I have been going to the Floyd Country Store for years off and on. I have not been there since the remodeling, and based on the video I don’t see anything that makes me want to go! Some of the footage was not even at the store. Where is the dancing, the little groups of people outside gathered around playing music, the little children dancing, and last but not least, Jerrel Harris????????? E-mail me if you would like for me to come up and take a video that might get people a little more enthused about visiting the store. This video didn’t excite me or remind me at all of the fun I had when I use to go to the store. Just don’t feel like the video does it justice. I hope after doing more searching on the internet I will find a better video that does portray the true atmosphere of the Floyd Country Store.

Jesse Praxton of Perth, Australia, danced until her legs hurt at the Floyd Country Store Friday night then stayed out on the dance floor for two more numbers. “This is incredible, absolutely incredible,” said the 33-year-old Aussie as she and her husband visited the Friday Night Jamboree during the grand opening weekend.
“I wish we had something like this back home.” The Praxtons heard about the Jamboree while traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway last week and, as luck would have it, hit Floyd for Friday’s grand re-opening celebration with special guest star Wayne Henderson. They joined a packed house that over- flowed into the street as the renovated Country Store launched with new hours, a lunch counter, a clothing line and more merchandise.
“Our goal was to restore it to a working country store,” says owner Woody Crenshaw.
Across Locust Street, work and sports clothing manufacturer Carhartt parked a large tractor trailor with displays, freebies and a demonstration that let people try to change a tire, NASCARstyle. Inside the country store, patrons lined up at the counter to try sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cream and shakes.

Others purchased clothing from the new merchandise area and still others browsed through the expanded section of music, books and CDs.
By the time the gospel hour started most of the extra chairs set up for Wayne Henderson were fi lled. Henderson followed the gospel group with his music and the chairs came off the dance fl oor at 9 p.m. for more music and dancing as Henderson and the Looping brothers played until the wee hours.
Toni Henderson of Winston Salem said she and her friends drive up several times a year for the Jamboree but Friday was their fi rst visit since the renovation.
“I was afraid they would ruin it, but they have made it much better,” she said. Beginning Tuesday, the Country Store is now open six days a week, starting at 10 a.m. It will be closed on Mondays.
