College football top 25 picks: Can Texas A&M bounce back vs. Miami?

Appalachian St Texas A M Football

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies were shocked at home by Appalachian State.

No. 1 Georgia at South Carolina highlights Saturday's slate of top-10 games

When Appalachian State rolled into Kyle Field last Saturday and walked away with a 17-14 win over then-No. 6 Texas A&M, the college football world was knocked off its axis.

The loss dropped the Aggies, an 18-point favorite, to No. 24 in this week's poll as they prepare to play host to 13th-ranked Miami this Saturday.

Coupled with Notre Dame's home loss to Marshall, it marked the first time in two seasons a pair of top-10 teams lost at home to unranked teams in the same week. The Irish, who were ranked eighth, fell out of the poll entirely.

FrontPageBets takes a look at what to expect from the Hurricanes and TAMU this week as well as prognosticating the rest of the top 25.

Miami outlook

The Hurricanes made quick work of Southern Mississippi in their last outing, pounding the Golden Eagles, 30-7. Running back Henry Parrish Jr. was the catalyst, piling up 109 yards on 23 carries with a touchdown.

Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke completed 70% of his passes, throwing for 263 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

The Miami defense limited Southern Miss to 33 yards on the ground, 240 yards total offense.

Texas A&M outlook

The Aggies offense was off kilter all day against the Mountaineers, mustering just 186 yards of offense. Quarterback Haynes King connected on just 13 of 20 throws for 97 yards.

Running back Devon Achane carried 10 times for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Kicker Caden Davis missed a 47-yard field goal that would have tied the game with 3:43 left in the fourth quarter.

Could the Aggies turn to LSU transfer QB Max Johnson to spark the offense?

Despite the struggles, the oddsmakers still like A&M in this ACC-SEC crossover.

I do too.
