Floyd Country Store: The Floyd Country Store on Saturday, March 14, will present an evening of music and stories in tribute to Herschel Sizemore at 7 p.m. The show will feature Alan Bibey & Grasstowne and New Standard Bluegrass.
Alan Bibey & Grasstowne are one of the hottest and most energetic bands touring today! Band leader, Alan Bibey, is a multi-award winning and Grammy nominated artist known for his exceptional mandolin mastery. Alan Bibey had a deep, mentor-mentee relationship with Herschel Sizemore, where Bibey viewed Sizemore as a hero, mentor, and best friend, dedicating awards to him. Alan Bibey credits Sizemore as his biggest influence on his mandolin playing. Alan Bibey brings the incredible Grasstowne to the Floyd Country Store in celebration of the legendary Herschel Sizemore.
Spencer Blankenship studied mandolin with Herschel Sizemore for many years and carries Herschel’s mandolin style forward through his work with New Standard.

Floyd Country Store: Born in the bluegrass of Kentucky and raised on Wyoming’s high plains, Shelby Means is one of the foremost bassists in bluegrass, with nearly two decades of experience in bluegrass, folk, rock, Americana, and country outfits. Now based in Charleston, South Carolina, Means spent a dozen years in Nashville. During that time she performed most notably as a member of the Grammy-nominated all-women bluegrass band Della Mae. She later joined Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway on bass and vocals, earning her first Grammy win for their 2023 album, City of Gold. Means is set to play the store on Saturday, March 21.
Movie Night: Red Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, located at 775 Red Oak Grove Rd NE in Floyd, will be hosting a movie night at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. The Onlies – made up of Sami Braman, Riley Calcagno, Vivian Leva, Leo Shannon and Nokosee Fields – are set to play the store on Sunday, March 22. The band, all still in their early twenties, won first place at the Clifftop Appalachian Stringband Festival in 2017, has toured the US extensively, and has performed and collaborated with Bruce Molsky, Elvis Costello, Tatiana Hargreaves, Foghorn Stringband, The Bee Eaters, John Herrmann & Meredith McIntosh, and Darol Anger, among others.

Livability in Action: The German Club Manor in Blacksburg on March 25 will host its 12th annual Livability in Action Regional Exchange. Lightning round speakers will touch on topics like hurricane relief and recovery, housing, downtown revitalization, community-university partnerships, and more. Plus, we'll highlight how local governments used American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support their communities after the COVID-19 pandemic. The event, which is free, begins at 9 a.m., with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

Floyd Country Store: The Floyd Radio Show will have it’s final performance of Season 13. Hosted by Kelley Breiding, The Floyd Radio Show is an old-timey variety show with original radio plays, comedy bits, ads, jingles, music and more. Celebrating old time and traditional music with people and communities where music is played and enjoyed in its authentic and purest forms. This week’s musical guests are The Twin Creeks String Band Band and The Bay’s Mountain Cut-Ups.

Floyd Country Store: The Burnett Sisters Band is scheduled to play at the Country Store at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 11. Bluegrass, old-time, and folk music lovers alike can’t get enough of 2025 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year Nominee, the Burnett Sisters Band, as siblings Anissa, Sophia, and Anneli from Boone, North Carolina, along with Geary Allen from Minster, England are all gifted multi-instrumentalists who are well-loved in the traditional music circuit. The band, brings an exciting energy and modern flair to each performance, while remaining true to the traditional roots of the genre. This show is presented with grant funding from The Live Music Society’s Music in Action grant that the store received in 2025.

Floyd Country Store: Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper is slated to play Sunday, April 26, at the store. Cleveland is the IBMA’s most awarded Fiddle Player of the Year, taking the nod 12 times. Together with Flamekeeper members Josh Richards (guitar), Nathan Livers (mandolin), Jasiah Shrode (banjo) and Chris Douglas (bass), Cleveland makes his way around the country performing festivals, clubs, and performing arts centers, delighting audiences, leaving them with jaws dropped in complete amazement.

Floyd Country Store:The Sentimental Gentlemen are a powerhouse collective that seamlessly blend deep-rooted traditional bluegrass with fresh, contemporary influences. When they’re not on the road backing the West Virginia songbird, Sierra Ferrell, the band’s members are busy crafting a sound that is as diverse as it is electrifying, drawing on years of professional stage and studio experience. As full-time touring and studio musicians, they’ve graced stages across the globe, playing with an impressive roster of artists including Sierra Hull, Mark O'Connor, Western Centuries, and Lindsay Lou. The Sentimental Gentlemen are Joshua Rilko (mandolin & vocals), Oliver Bates Craven (fiddle, guitar, vocals), and Geoff Saunders (bass, vocals), with rotating banjo and guitar buddies. The group is set to play the store on Saturday, May 29.
