A Cedar Bluff man was indicted on a charge of attempted capital murder of a police officer during the July 14 meeting of the Tazewell County grand jury.
Richard Lamie was charged in connection with an incident in May 2025. He also faces charges of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, two counts of shooting at an emergency vehicle, two counts of obstruction and one of abduction.
The grand jury also indicted Michael Anthony Rowe of Tazewell on charges of hit and run with property damage, abduction and eluding police.Â
An Aug. 31 court date is set for Benjamin Adam Houchins of Pounding Mill on an unlawful wounding charge.
Dusty William Yates of Frankford, West Virginia, was indicted on a count of grand theft auto, two counts of destruction of property and one count of intoxicated in public.Â

The annual showcase of agriculture, motor sports, music and fun opens Aug. 4 and runs through Aug. 8. Pre fair events include the Jackie Adkins Car Show Aug. 1 at the Fairgrounds and the Virginia High School League Rodeo Aug. 1 and 2.Â
Rodeo action starts at six pm on Aug. 1 and 10 am Aug. 2. A youth horse show and halter cattle show open the evening Aug. 4. Children’s day is Aug. 5 with fun starting at 9 am.
Games, a foam party, magic show, and bounce houses will keep them busy until noon. At five pm Lee Dean takes the stage for an Elvis and Johnny Cash tribute show.  There will also be an ATV rodeo on Aug. 5.
Other music during the week includes gospel night Aug. 6 featuring Michael Combs, Servant’s Heart, Eddy Street and Jeff and Sherri Easter.  Justin Baldwin takes the stage on Aug. 7 from five to six pm.
Robbie Lester will perform on the Heritage Stage at four pm on Aug. 8. The antique tractor pull is set for Aug. 6, and the fair concludes with the annual demolition derbies Aug. 7-8. Compact cars fill the arena Aug. 7 for the Figure Eight derby, and the full size get the spotlight Aug. 8.
Admission to the grounds is $2 per person after two pm Aug. 5 and all-day Aug. 6. Admission will be $10 per person on Aug. 7-8. Â Â Â Â Â There will be carnival rides on the grounds on Aug. 5-8.
