Hungry Mothers fall to Catawba (copy)
Carter Babb slammed another home run for the Marion Hungry Mothers in Tuesday’s 9-4 loss to the Catawba Valley Stars in Marion.
Noah Bandrimer of Rural Retreat and Bluefield University's Brock Halsey also drove in runs for Marion. Luke Childress of Tazewell doubled for the Mothers. Evan Mutter (Tennessee High) added a hit.
Marion pitchers Alex Compton of Tazewell, Parker Moore of Fort Chiswell and Ben Kilbourne of Chilhowie combined a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
The Hungry Mothers were hurt by two errors and nine walks in the five-inning contest.
Marion (9-15) will close the season on Sunday against the Davie Crocketts in a Blue Ridge League game.
