Richlands blanks Graham
Gage Hylton and William Fuller combined on a perfect game with nine strikeouts as Richlands recorded a 6-0 win against Graham on Tuesday in the Southwest District baseball tournament.
Hylton pitched the first two innings and Fuller took over from there.
Bradley Fuller drove in three runs for Richlands (11-8), while Hylton and Andrew Boyd added two hits apiece. The Blues play Virginia High today at 11 a.m. in the semifinals at Lebanon's Doc Adams Field.
Graham pitcher Cam McCroskey struck out four in an eight-hitter.

Bulldogs get by Canes
Braylen Barnett’s RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Tazewell Bulldogs a 7-6 walk-off win over Marion in the first round of the Southwest District tournament.
Tazewell (11-9) trailed 6-4 heading into the seventh inning before rallying and clinching a berth in the VHSL Region 2D tournament.
Braydon Roberts (3-for-4, two RBIs) also played well, while Wyatt Johnson and Ellis Day each had two hits and Brody Myers scored two runs.
Walker Patterson struck out nine in pitching six strong innings of relief for the Bulldogs.
Colby Davis had two RBIs for Marion (6-16), while Peyton Ratcliffe scored two runs.

Softball
Richlands edges Bulldogs
Cami Spencer scored on an error with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Richlands edged Tazewell 7-6 and avoided an upset in the semifinals of the Southwest District tournament.
The Blue Tornado (16-6) trailed 5-1 at one juncture of the game.
Averi Fuller and Justice Hill homered for the Blues. Fuller went 4-for-4 and was the winning pitcher as well.
Irelyn Osborne and AdyMae Reynolds added two hits apiece. Josie McGraw went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Tazewell, while Kendyl Taylor added two hits in the loss.

Tazewell blanks G-Girls
The Bulldogs scored eight runs in the first inning and compiled a total of 15 hits en route to a 14-0 Southwest District tournament triumph over Graham.
Lizzie Watson led Tazewell with three hits, while Lanee Blizzard drove in three runs.
Jillian McFarland allowed only five hits with no walks to earn the decision. The Bulldogs secured a Region 2D tournament berth.
Stevie Sparks and Abby Houchins delivered two hits apiece for Graham.
Marion takes win over Tazewell
Abby Rabara recorded three RBIs as the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes stopped Tazewell 8-6 in the third-place game of the Southwest District tournament.
Spencer Parks, Sadie Amos and Addyson Williams added two hits apiece, while Akaylia Phipps went the distance as the winning pitcher.
The Scarlet Hurricanes raced out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning and held off the Bulldogs the rest of the way.
Josie McGraw’s two hits and three RBIs were tops for Tazewell. Aaelyn Snapp (two hits, two RBIs) was also strong in defeat, while Brooke Jordan and Sofie VanDyke added two hits apiece.
Tazewell takes a trip to two-time defending Region 2D champ Wise County Central in the first round of the regional tournament, while Marion must face former Highlands District rival Lee High on the road.

Bearcats hammer Bulldogs
Chloe Jarvis was unstoppable with five goals and an assist as the Virginia High Bearcats thrashed Tazewell 8-1 in the quarterfinals of the Southwest District tournaments.
“Chloe really showed off her excellent pace,” said VHS coach Justin Hayden. “When she gets after defenses like she did tonight she’s tough to stop.”
Lucy Foy added two goals for VHS, while Cecilia Hernandez also found the back of the net.
“Really excited to pick up some momentum as we start the SWD tournament,” Hayden said.
Bulldogs best Blues
The Tazewell Bulldogs bopped Richlands 5-1 in the first round of the Southwest District tournament.
Tazewell takes out Tigers
Paiton McGlothlin scored Honaker’s only goal as the Tigers were topped by Tazewell 3-1 in the opening round of the Southwest District tournament.
The VHSL is not sponsoring a Class 1 girls soccer state tournament this year, so those schools that do have programs in the smallest classification will compete in Class 2 postseason tourneys.
Virginia High buries Tazewell

The Graham G-Men continued to rule the Southwest District boys soccer scene as they rolled to an 8-0 win over Marion on Saturday in the finals of the league tournament.
The bunch from Bluefield added the tourney title to their regular-season crown.
Tazewell tops Virginia High
The Virginia High Bearcats lost to Tazewell 4-1 in the third-place game of the Southwest District tournament.
Graham bests Blues
The Graham G-Girls won the Southwest District tournament with a 5-2 victory over the Blue Tornado.
