Lebanon shuts out Canes
Lake Baldwin struck out 11 in pitching a five-inning no-hitter as the Lebanon Pioneers pummeled Marion 10-0 in a Southwest District contest.
Baldwin issued just one walk as he needed just 63 pitches to dispatch the Scarlet Hurricanes.
He also went 3-for-4 and hit a first-inning homer in the win.
“Lake had a great night all the way around,” said Lebanon coach Cody Compton. “On the mound he was filling up the zone and locating his breaking ball well. At the plate he barreled the ball every at-bat.”
Jake Hilton (three RBIs) and Luke Garrett (two RBIs) also produce at the plate for the winners. Dawson Rasnake and Ethan Horne finished with two hits apiece.

Warriors wallop Northwood
Brent Kilbourne went 2-for-2 with triple, scored two runs and tallied four RBIs as the Chilhowie Warriors walloped Northwood for a 21-0 Hogoheegee District victory.
Brandon Miller (2-for-3, three runs), River Nash (three RBIs) and Dylan Martin (two hits) also led the offensive outburst for the Warriors.
Meanwhile, Noah Nash and Bryce Robinson combined to pitch a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.
The Warriors (8-1, 2-0) visit Patrick Henry (7-2, 1-0) on Friday in a key Hogoheegee District matchup.
Northwood’s hits came from Dawson Prater and Tyler Gillespie. The Panthers were outscored 38-2 by Chilhowie in the two regular-season meetings between the Smyth County foes.

Rebels wreck Holston
Hank Rutherford went 2-for-3 with three RBIs as the Patrick Henry Rebels earned a 5-1 Hogoheegee District win.
Rutherford had a two-run single in the second inning as he continued his stellar season at the plate.
Connor Brown went 3-for-4 for the Rebels, while Aidan Monahan and Porter Blackwell added two hits apiece. Pitchers Carter Brown and Kolby Hicks combined to toss a four-hitter with 16 strikeouts.
PH (7-2) hosts Chilhowie (8-1) in a crucial district game on Thursday.
Creed Maness had two of Holston’s four hits. Brodie Richardson scored the only run for the Cavaliers.

Indians edge Marion
Brody Childers scored the tiebreaking run on Trever Shelton’s one-out RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Rural Retreat Indians rallied past Marion 6-5.
Marion led 5-0 after three innings, but Rural Retreat scored five times in the fourth to tie the score. The Indians then took the lead for good in the sixth.
Childers finished 3-for-4 and scored two runs, while Shelton tallied two RBIs. Carter Haga and Shelton pitched well in relief in holding Marion in check over the final four innings.
Marion received two hits from Peyton Ratcliffe.
Softball
Warriors best Panthers
Lexi Williams had two hits – including a home run – as Chilhowie earned a 5-1 Hogoheegee District victory over the Northwood Panthers.
Kylee Dancy added three RBIs for the Warriors, while winning pitcher Emmaline Dowell struck out 11 in a two-hitter.
Maddie Robinson and Anna Ellis had the hits for Northwood. Bailee Nutter scored the only run for the Panthers.

Rebels outslug Cavs
Lindsey Widener had four of Patrick Henry’s 16 hits as the Rebels won an 11-8 Hogoheegee District slugfest.
Widener had two triples and was also the winning pitcher as she recorded 12 strikeouts.
The Rebels also received two RBIs apiece from Autumn Parks, Paytyn Fulton and Braelyn Scammell.
Haleigh Dutton, Ella Evans, Katie Remine and Chloue Rouse had two hits apiece for Holston.
Pioneers blank Marion
Chadyn Musick crafted a five-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts as the Lebanon Pioneers blanked Marion for an 8-0 Southwest District victory.
Jaidyn Fields went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Kursten Morrison drove in two runs. Chloe Couch and Raelynn Huff supplied two hits each.
The Pioneers did not strike out a single time.
Leadoff batter Suzanna Barker had two hits for Marion.

Maroons beat Panthers
Caroline Harris struck out eight in three sterling innings of relief as the George Wythe Maroons notched a 4-1 non-district victory over Northwood.
Emma Faulkner doubled and scored a run for GW, while Madison Hatcher drove in two runs.
The Maroons improved to 8-1.
Northwood pitcher Bailee Nutter allowed just three hits and struck out 13, while she also had two hits and launched a home run.
