Rebels routs Patrick Henry
The Patrick Henry Rebels didn’t have to call in the calvary on Friday.
That’s because Jeb Stewart was raring and ready to go from the start of the Hogoheegee District battle with Honaker as he poured in 37 points in a decisive 93-49 win over Honaker.
Stewart had 21 points in the first quarter alone as PH took command in bolting to a 31-11 lead eight minutes into the contest.
Stewart also had four steals and three rebounds.
Cade Caywood almost had a triple double – 23 points, nine assists, eight rebounds – while Kolby Hicks added 10 points and five rebounds.
Jeremiah Rose had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Honaker, while Colton Lowe scored 13 points and Parker Lowe dished out five assists. The Tigers committed 24 turnovers.

Warriors hammer Rural Retreat
Jayden Schwartz scored 19 points and Gabe Rouse had a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) as the Chilhowie Warriors earned a 69-52 Hogoheegee District win over the visiting Rural Retreat Indians.
Rouse also dished out five assists.
Chilhowie placed five scorers in double digits with Garrett Dickison (12 points), Asher Chapman (12 points, six rebounds, four assists) and Luke Mullinax (10 points) joining Schwartz and Rouse in that category.
Brody Childers led Rural Retreat with 15 points, while Trever Shelton and Brody Allen supplied 11 points apiece in the loss. The Indians made nine 3-pointers.

Northwood bests Holston
Brody Waddle put in work to the tune of 22 points as the Northwood Panthers posted a 57-54 Hogoheegee District victory at Holston.
Holston erased an 18-point fourth quarter deficit in an overtime win over Rye Cove. The Cavaliers trailed by 18 points at halftime on Friday but their comeback bid fell short this time.
Duke Colley added 10 points for Northwood, which also got nine points from Adler Little. The Panthers had beaten Holston in the third-place game of the 2025 Hogoheegee District tournament as well.
Brady Bailey’s 12 points were the best for Holston. Jo Norman and Zac Cornett supplied 10 points apiece.

Marion pounds Virginia High
Caden Burchett’s 25-point performance led the way for the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes as they squashed Virginia High for a 70-50 Southwest District victory.
Hayden Hall and Tyler Pierce added 15 points apiece for the ‘Canes, who led by 11 points at halftime and then put the game away by outscoring the Bearcats 18-8 in the third quarter.
Davy Woolen’s 20 points were tops for VHS.

Richlands tops Marion
Parker Ryder tossed in 25 points as the Richlands Blue Tornado topped Marion 74-65 to set up an upcoming Southwest District showdown.
The Blues travel to Lebanon on Friday in a marquee SWD contest.
Ryder also recorded six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Wynnter Boyd added 21 points and six rebounds. He moved into third place on the career scoring list at Richlands.
Max Herndon’s 20 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals were also vital to the victory.
Caden Burchett scored 24 points for Marion. Hayden Hall’s 20 points and Jayden McKinney’s 13 points were also notable for the Scarlet Hurricanes.

Girls Basketball
Canes claim win over Cats
The Marion Scarlet Hurricanes earned their 11th girls basketball win of the season on Friday night and the latest triumph was their most important yet.
The duo of Macy Osborne (24 points, five rebounds) and Aubrey Yarber (21 points, four steals) starred in a 45-39 Southwest District victory over the Virginia High Bearcats.
Osborne and Yarber have been the top scorers for Marion all season and the duo was dynamic in scoring all 45 points for the ‘Canes on Friday.
Osborne also surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career.
Marion is now 2-0 in SWD play and 11-3 overall.
“Virginia High is always a top-tier program,” said Marion coach Matthew Neese. “Kaiden Harris is a fantastic player. It took a great team effort to win this one. Huge win for our girls.”
Virginia High was led by Kaiden Harris, who had 16 points and dominated on the boards.

A 17-3 run to end the first half put the Tigers in total control. Dani Whaley added six steals in the win.

Chilhowie topples Rural Retreat
Lexi Williams had a 17-point, eight-steal showing as Chilhowie beat Hogoheegee District rival Rural Retreat 40-33 in girls basketball for the first time since 2021.
Kynlee Lilly and Maggie Hill led Rural Retreat with eight points apiece. The Indians committed 30 turnovers.
Holston hammers Panthers
Allie Parks had another solid performance with 12 points, six rebounds and six steals as the Holston Cavaliers notched a 41-29 Hogoheegee District victory over Northwood.
Clarie Jenkins and Lilly Johnson added nine points apiece with Jenkins also recording nine rebounds.
Holston closed the first half on a 10-3 run and opened the third quarter on a 16-6 scoring surge to take control.
Gabby Call’s 11 points paced the Panthers of Northwood.

Girls Wrestling
Chilhowie, Marion wrestlers prevail
Marion’s Morgan Tilson (132-pound weight class) and Chilhowie’s Josie Couch (145) won their respective weight classes at the Queen Pin Classic hosted by Carroll County High School.
Couch won both of her matches by pin, while Tilson compiled a 5-0 record with three pins and two major decisions.
