Words to the Wise
Romans 10
Mark Sage
When we come to Romans 10, we hear Paul once again pouring out his heart for his own people, the Jews. He longs to see them saved. And what makes this so heartbreaking is that they are not people who do not care about God. Paul says they have a zeal for God. They are sincere. They want to be right with God. But the problem is, they are going about it the wrong way. They are trying to establish their own righteousness by keeping the law. And the trouble with that is, if you are going to be made righteous by the law, then you must keep all of it perfectly. Not most of it. Not the parts you are good at. All of it. And none of us can do that. That is why we need a righteousness that does not come from our works, but from faith. Paul says you do not have to climb up into heaven to find it, because God has already sent His Son. Jesus came clothed in human flesh and fulfilled the law for us. You do not have to go down into the depths to search for it either, because Christ has risen from the dead. God has already done what we could never do for ourselves. So, the righteousness of faith is not about earning our way to God. It is about believing in our heart and confessing with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord.
If you are not a Christian here are the ABCs to becoming one:
Admit you are a sinner in need of a savior.
Believe that Jesus died for you and rose again from the dead.
Confess your sins to God, ask Him to forgive you, and commit your life to follow Him.
