Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church in Cripple Creek will have Vacation Bible School on June 28th-30th, at 6:30 to 8:30 The theme is Psalms 23, and dinner will also be served. Everyone is welcome.
There will be a Donation Breakfast Supper on Saturday, June 20th, at 5:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Church Activity Center. The menu will be sausage and bacon, breakfast casserole, sausage gravy, homemade biscuits and more. Donations will be accepted and appreciated.

Lady Regulators are hosting a Softball Tournament at Ager Park on Saturday, June 20th, 10U and 12U, and Sunday, June 21st, 14U and 16/18U. Entry fee is $300, admission is $12 a day or $20 weekend and 10 and under is free. There will be awards for 1st and 2nd place teams. There will be concessions on site.
Asbury Church at 203 Church Street, Rural Retreat, will have Vacation Bible School June 22nd, to June 26th, at 6-8:30 p.m. and the theme is Junk Yard Redemption God's Master Plan To Remake Our Broken World. Dinner will be served, classes and tons of fun for ages two to adult.
Virginia Dental Association Foundation will have their Annual Free Dental Clinic at the Wytheville Meeting Center on June 26th and 27th, at 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This will include free dental exams, cleanings, extractions, fillings, denture screening, X-rays and select root canals. This will be first come first served.
Brock Hughes Medical Center will host their 8th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 25th, with registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m. and shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. A four person team cost is $320 and this will include a BBQ lunch, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, green and cart fee. The 8th Annual Charity Cruise-In will be held on Sunday, June 21st, 12-4 p.m. at Walmart. This is to raise proceeds for the Children's Miracle Network and this will be rain or shine. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks available. All donations are appreciated.
There will be a Public Safety Camp held on June 29th-July 1st, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the Wytheville Police Department and the Wytheville Fire and Rescue Department. There will be a Ride for fallen Deputy Logan Utt of Carroll County that lost his life in the line of duty. This is for all vehicles and will be held on Sunday, June 28th, at 12 p.m. with line up at Mayberry Mall. The cost is $20 per vehicle/cash and all makes and models are welcome. Please only fly the American Flag or the black with blue stripes. No burnouts or speeding. All proceeds go to the Utt family.
The Chautauqua Festival 5K Race will be held on Saturday, June 27th, at 9 a.m. The race will start and finish at 4th Street in front of the Wytheville Recreation Center with registration at 7:45-8:45 a.m. and the cost is $30. All entrants are divided by 20 divisions, gender/age brackets. Walkers and strollers are welcome. No dogs permitted. The Rural Retreat Farmers Market will open on Wednesday, June 17th, 3-6 p.m. at 111 Church Street and will be open on Wednesdays through October 21st.
D.I.Y. with Dad at Rural King on Saturday, June 20th, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids can decorate a hat for Dad and materials are provided with no purchase necessary.
Dairy Day will be held at the Wytheville Famers Market on Saturday, June 20th, at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wythe County Parks and Recreation will have Adult Open Play at Ager Park and this is free and no registrations is required. This will be held in June and July with Wiffleball on Wednesdays at 5-9 p.m., Cornhole on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. until finished and Kickball on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. until done.
Wythe County Parks and Recreation will have free Summer Crafts at Ager Park, June through July, on Mondays, 3-5 p.m. and Tuesdays at 6-8 p.m. No registration is required, just drop in and get creative.

Attention Parents/Guardians, Grab-n-Go Meal Boxes will be available for pickup every Thursday, June 4th, through August 10th, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Open Door Community. These meal boxes are a great way to help keep children fed and healthy during summer.

Believe it or not but my heat kept coming on Tuesday morning. The cooler days are good if you have to mow, farm or do any outdoor work but I still like the warmer days.
I was so glad that my brother, Jerry Lowe, was able to attend the Jonas Family Reunion last Sunday. It was a long day for him but he really enjoyed being there and a big thanks to my other brother, JC Lowe, for bringing him. I know everyone that attended enjoyed all the great food and seeing all the family members especially those that you don't get to see but once a year.
Prayer concerns are: Jerry Lowe, Michael Dean the other Deputy that was shot in Carroll County, Glenda Lowe, Threasa Jenkins, Helen Bass, Kendra Dunkley, Linda Porter, Jerry Porter, Jimmy Dunkley, Rodney Pack, Lea Horney, Danny Jonas, Daphne Rosenbaum, Kenny Sayers, Sandra Wright, Mary Jo McKenzie, Gus Kincer, Bo Testerman, Randy Mitchell, Walker Jenkins, Clyde King, Sr., Libby King, Rabbit Carton, Martha Norris, Shirley Caudill, Arlene Gilbert, Sandra Reasor, Raymond Matney, Phyllis Stamper, Charlie Ray Preston, Jim Bear, Kathy Testerman, for the safety of all Police Officers, EMT personnel and Fire Fighters, than the good Lord for the rain we have gotten and prayers for more, for all the sick and shut-ins, the safety of all churches and schools, our Military Peronnel and especially for all the unsaved.
