Farm Credit welcomes summer interns (copy)
Farm Credit's 2026 summer interns.
Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a lending cooperative that serves Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, announced that four talented interns have joined the Association this summer.
Connor Davis (Credit and Lending Intern)
Connor Davis is from Elkton and is a student at Illinois Central College, majoring in agricultural business. Davis grew up on a small family farm, which raises beef cattle, and he showed steers and goats in his youth at the local county fair. He was also very involved in FFA and 4-H growing up, having served as an officer in both organizations.
Davis said, “I am excited to bring my passion for agriculture and strong work ethic to my internship at Farm Credit this summer!”
Genny Hwang (Credit and Lending Intern)
Genny Hwang currently resides in Burke, though she previously lived in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Texas before her family moved to Virginia. She is attending the University of Virginia (UVA), pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics, and intends to complete a master’s degree in public policy upon completion of her bachelor’s degree.
While she does not have a background in agriculture, Hwang has a strong interest in the field because of its important role in the U.S. economy and its connection to public policy. Hwang is involved in Teach for America Ignite Fellowship, as well as a number of organizations at UVA, including Student Council, Jefferson Consulting Collective, Alpine Ski and Snowboard Team and Sigma Kappa sorority.
“I’m excited to bring together my academic interests in economics and public policy while having the opportunity to serve and positively impact real people and communities. As a credit and lending intern, I’m especially interested in seeing how economic principles and public policy intersect within agriculture, an industry that plays a foundational role in the U.S. economy and supports communities across the country. I am eager to contribute to Farm Credit’s mission by supporting agricultural producers and rural communities, and to learn how financial decisions can create real, positive impact,” said Hwang.
Ciara Lazaro Blas (Marketing and Knowledge Center Intern)
Ciara Lazaro Blas is from Broadway, and she is currently pursuing dual degrees from Virginia Tech in agribusiness and agricultural & extension education. While she did not grow up on a farm, she found a passion for agriculture while taking her first ag class in middle school. She was involved in FFA in high school and is now a part of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and Alpha Tau Alpha, a national professional honorary agricultural education organization.
“I am really excited to bring new ideas and my passion for agriculture to this internship. I hope that my work will reflect Farm Credit’s values and that I am able to serve agriculture and our rural communities!” said Lazaro Blas.
Sofia Silverglate (Information Technology Intern)
Sofia Silverglate, from Roanoke, is attending Virginia Tech pursuing a bachelor's degree in computational modeling and data analytics.
“I am eager to contribute my technical background and problem-solving skills to help create efficient, reliable solutions for the communities Farm Credit serves. My goal is to use my experience in collaboration and overcoming challenges to support the team’s success and make a positive impact on others,” Silvergate said.
