PLEASE STAND WITH ME AND VOTE NO!
On April 21st, Virginians will vote on a constitutional amendment that most people still know very little about and many
consider illegal – and that’s not an accident. The ballot language is written in a way that sounds harmless, even helpful,
but it leaves out the most important fact: this amendment
would give politicians the power to redraw our congressional
maps mid-decade. It is extremely important that you vote!
In 2020, Virginians overwhelmingly approved an independent redistricting process to take politics out of map-drawing.
Now, just a few years later, the General Assembly is trying to
reverse that decision – without clearly telling voters what the
amendment actually does.
The ballot says the amendment will “restore fairness” and
allow the state legislature to “temporarily adopt new
districts.” What it doesn’t say is this would undo voterapproved reforms and put politicians back in charge.
Regardless of a party, Virginians deserve honesty at the
ballot box. Ballot language should inform voters, not
mislead them.
I urge you to please read beyond the surface, understand
what’s at stake, and vote NO on this illegal amendment. Protect transparency. Protect Voter intent. And keep redistricting out of the hands of politicians. Early voting has already
started. Please vote now or on April 21st at your local voter
registrar’s office.
