Riley Hall of GW earned a spot on the All District Team
The George Wythe Maroons boys and girls cross country teams each claimed second place at the Mountain Empire District Meet held Tuesday, October 29 in Blacksburg. The Lady Maroons had five runners in the top 14 and the team scored 40 points, just nine points behind MED Champions Auburn. Emma Faulkner won the 5K race at Blacksburg High School, claiming the district title with her 20:55 time. Allyson Funk and and Beverly Warner of Auburn and Annaliese Miller of Giles finished 21:35, 22:11, and 23:20 respectively. Carrie Sage Dalton of GW finished fifth at 23:40. Jocelyn Parks of Bland County finished 7th at 24:35. Faulkner, Dalton, and Parks were named to the first All District team along with the other top seven finishers.
