February 5- Scrabble at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Thursday, February 5th at 1:30 pm. Enjoy a challenging and fun game of Scrabble with other word enthusiasts!
February 7- Ukulele Learning and Jamming at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Saturday, February 7th at 10:30 am. Have a ukulele that's just hanging around your house? Now is the time to learn! New year, new you! First half hour will be learning the basics, or a refresher. Followed by a beginner friendly jam, featuring classics from the 60's to today's pop favorites. Floyd's favorite ukulele lady, Mim, will be leading this program. No experience necessary. Bring your own instrument. If you don't have a uke, we will have limited loaners for this program. Ages 13 and up are welcome.
February 7- Birding with Binoculars at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Saturday, February 7th at 1 pm. All ages welcome! Come learn about birding with binoculars with Master Naturalist, Michael Williams. Youth binoculars provided.
February 7- Attracting Birds with Healthy Food at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Saturday, February 7th at 2 pm. Join Master Naturalist, Valinda Dyer, for this interactive project. Learn what's healthy for birds to eat and how you can provide it. Make a pine cone bird feeder to take home. All ages welcome! All supplies provided.
February 8- Floyd Fiber Friends at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Sunday, February 8th at 2 pm. Love all things fiber? Bring your knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, or any fiber project and join us for a relaxed, creative meetup. All skill levels welcome—come to connect, create, and be inspired! Ages 16 and up.
February 9- Floyd Writing Critique Group at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Monday, February 9th at 1:30 pm. Meetings focus on constructive feedback. One week ahead, members submit up to three poems or 1,500 words of prose. Email for more info: kristinecarter@live.com
February 10- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Tuesday, February 10th from 11 am to 1 pm. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is provided in the New River Valley by New River Community Action. We give assistance to our community by providing free tax assistance for anyone making less than 75K a year. The taxes we prepare cannot be overly complicated and must be within scope.

A support group for creatives: share your work, questions, and advice! Activities and goals are decided as a group.
February 11- All Ages Storytime at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Wednesday, February 11th at 10:30 am. Share stories, rhymes, music, and movement, and a craft as a family. Develop early literacy skills and encourage a love of reading.
February 11- Big and Little Social Club at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Wednesday, February 11th at 11:15 am. Hang out and socialize after our regular story time with other caregivers and the little ones in their care. We'll put out toys for the tots although adults are welcome to play too!

February 12 Talking About Books at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Thursday, February 12th at 2 pm. This month's book is Before the Swallows Come Back by Fiona Curnow. Before the Swallows Come Back is a story of love, found family, and redemption that will break your heart and have it soaring time and time again as you sit on the edge of your seat desperately hoping.
February 13- Pokémon Club at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Friday, February 13th at 3:30 pm. Pokémon fans bring your Pokémon trading cards or DS to play and trade with friends! All ages welcome.

February 14- Weather the Winter at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library on Saturday February 14th at 2 pm. Come learn some tips on how to stay mentally healthy during the winter! With shorter daylight hours and cold weather keeping us more indoors, winter can be an isolating time, especially in a rural community.
Join New River Medical Reserve Corps volunteer and Licensed Professional Counselor Paula Markham to learn how to support your mental health during the winter, as well as how to incorporate methods from other cultures, such as the Danish concept of hygge and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Open to all ages.
