Boys Basketball
Richlands claims OT win over Tazewell
Wynnter Boyd scored 25 points and Bradley Fuller had a double-double as Richlands recorded a controversial 69-67 Southwest District boys basketball overtime win over the Tazewell Bulldogs on Wednesday night.
“After watching the game film I believe the kids should have been able to determine the outcome in a second overtime,” said Richlands coach Brian Moore.
Fuller finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Parker Ryder recorded 15 points.
It was the second close game in as many nights for Richlands, which suffered a 59-58 loss to Lebanon on Tuesday.
Lebanon topples Richlands
Ethan Horne scored 18 points and converted the go-ahead layup with 28 seconds remaining as the Lebanon Pioneers edged Richlands for a 59-58 Southwest District victory.
Horne also had six rebounds and four assists as Lebanon remained a game back of leader Graham in the Southwest District standings.
Jake Hilton (14 points), Dawson Rasnake (12 points, four assists) and Mike Reece (10 points, 12 rebounds, four assists) also played well.
Bradley Fuller scored 17 points to lead the way for Richlands, while Parker Ryder recorded 16 points and Max Herndon finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Wynnter Boyd dished out six assists.

G-Men romp over Tazewell
Channing Disibbio scored 22 points as the Graham G-Men thumped Tazewell 78-34 in a Southwest District showdown.
Gage Palmer (16 points), Ty Martin (13 points) and Cambel Fix (12 points) were also part of a balanced attack for the bunch from Bluefield.
Lane McMullen’s 10 points were tops for Tazewell.
Canes best Blues
Marion’s Caden Burchett hung 23 points on Richlands as the balanced attack of the Scarlet Hurricanes was on display in a 75-64 Southwest District victory over Richlands.
Hayden Hall and Tyler Pierce’s 18 points were also key for the ‘Canes. Marion led 35-33 at halftime and made clutch plays down the stretch.
Richlands was led by Parker Ryder’s 20 points. Wynnter Boyd (16 points, six rebounds, five assists) and Max Herndon (11 points, nine rebounds, five assists) also scored in double digits.
The Blue Tornado were coming off a controversial win over Tazewell the night before.

Girls Basketball
Richlands drains Tazewell
Aubreigh Compton led three Richlands scorers in double digits with 12 points as the Blue Tornado topped Southwest District archrival Tazewell 51-20.
Braedi Moore and Paytlyn Barnett added 10 points apiece with Barnett also crashing the boards and hauling down 10 rebounds.
Josie McGraw scored 11 of Tazewell’s 20 points.
Eastside 63, J.I. Burton 27
Eastside senior guard Shelby Stanley dominated to the tune of 29 points, seven steals and four rebounds as the Eastside Spartans blasted J.I. Burton for a Cumberland District victory.
Dakota Clay (14 points, 14 rebounds, four assists) and Brooklynn “B.J.” Johnson 12 points, eight rebounds) also keyed the victory.
Pioneers pound Blues
Ali Beck and Jaidyn Fields scored 16 points apiece as the Lebanon Pioneers rocked Richlands for a 57-19 Southwest District victory.
Lebanon led 19-3 after eight minutes and extended the lead to 42-13 at halftime.
Lia Beck’s 10 points were also notable for the winners.
The Pioneers also set the stage for tonight’s SWD showdown in Bristol.
Lebanon visits Virginia High with sole possession of first place in the district on the line.
“Good team win tonight,” said Lebanon coach Travis Hooker. “Had a really good start, got some layups which led to making jumpers. The girls, as well as myself, are extremely excited for the opportunity to play for first place [on Wednesday].”

G-Girls whip Tazewell
The Graham G-Girls topped Tazewell for the second straight night, putting up a 54-16 score.
Marion hammers Richlands
Macy Osborne went off for 40 points as the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes rocked Richlands for an 80-27 Southwest District victory.
Osborne had 12 points in the first quarter, 11 points in the second, nine in the third and eight in the fourth. She made eight 3-pointers and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
“Macy is a fantastic player who gives her heart and soul night in and night out,” said Marion coach Matthew Neese. “She gets double-teamed or face guarded every night and still manages to maintain her focus and composure.”
Aubrey Yarber added 24 points and seven steals for Marion.
Paytlyn Barnett and Brynn Breeding scored seven points apiece for Richlands.
