Abingdon blanks Richlands
Kymani Johnson and Judge Dillow were the primary playmakers as the Abingdon Falcons rolled past Richlands for a 55-0 non-district victory.
Johnson rushed for 94 yards on 15 carries with three touchdowns, while Dillow had four catches for 67 yards and a score and also returned an interception 89 yards for a TD.
Cole Camper and David Ramirez also scored for AHS (2-2), which held a 334-115 edge in total offense.
Will Allen also intercepted a pass for the Falcons.
Richlands (0-4) has not scored in three straight games. T.J. Lawson’s 47 rushing yards were tops for the Blue Tornado.
Ethan Cordle intercepted a pass for the Blues.

Union rolls over Bulldogs
Elijah Lomax rushed for 347 yards on 34 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Union Bears topped Tazewell 42-7.
“Elijah has been a leader since the first day I came to Union,” said first-year Union coach Jamie Harless. “His performance doesn’t shock me in the slightest.”
The Bears (3-1) led just 13-7 at halftime but dominated the final 24 minutes.
Kaden Dillman added two rushing touchdowns as Union overcame four turnovers.
Tazewell quarterback Ty Whittaker was 15-of-32 through the air for 197 yards with a touchdown pass to Ellis Day. Caden Williamson had five catches for 98 yards in the loss.

Marion blanks Blues
An 11-kill, eight-dig, two-block, one-ace masterpiece from Aubrey Yarber highlighted Marion’s 25-13, 25-23, 25-12 Southwest District victory over the Richlands Blue Tornado.
Macie Hanshew (25 assists, six digs), Alexis Atkins (seven kills) and Sadie Amos (six kills) also played well for the Scarlet Hurricanes.
Richlands blanks Bulldogs
Patlyn Barnett of Richlands made Tazewell pay from the service line as she had eight aces among her 23 service points to highlight the Blue Tornado’s 25-10, 27-25, 25-9 Southwest District victory.
She also had seven digs.
Maddie Webb (13 assists, five kills, five digs) had a good night as well for the Blues.
Holston shuts out Tazewell
Bailee Singleton collected 15 digs, seven kills and seven aces as the Holston Cavaliers topped Tazewell 25-15, 25-17, 25-21 to continue their strong start to the season.
Holston is 8-2 and won a tournament it hosted over the weekend.
“Our girls have built some momentum as we head into [Hogoheegee] District play next week,” said Cavaliers coach Jason Delp. “Right now we have to focus on [Tuesday’s match against] Twin Springs and continue to build on the progress that we have made. Our team has bonded really well this year and that has become evident on the floor.”
Haleigh Dutton (12 digs, seven kills), Lydia Reid (12 digs), Payton Long (12 assists) and Ella Evans (eight kills) played well too on Monday in the win.
