Pioneers pummel G-Men

Marion edges G-Men
Will Garrick scored on a wild pitch with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Marion a 5-4 Southwest District win and complete a comeback for the Scarlet Hurricanes.
Marion trailed 4-1 entering the final inning.
A bunt by Garrick was mishandled and led to a two-run error that tied the game. Garrick then used his wheels to race home for the winner.
Garrick was also the winning pitcher in relief.
Marion had just two hits – via Peyton Ratcliffe and Caden Hash – but took advantage of seven walks, two errors and three hit batters by the G-Men.
Chaun Dowell homered for Graham.

Cougars hammer Graham
Grady Mullins scored Graham’s only run and had one of the G-Men’s two hits in a lopsided 19-1 non-district loss to Pulaski County.
Cam McCroskey had the other hit for Graham.
Pulaski scored six runs in the first inning and had a 10-run fourth inning. The Cougars had 11 hits and drew 10 walks against four Graham pitchers.
Richlands rips Tazewell
Bradley Fuller hit two doubles and drove in a pair of runs as the Richlands Blue Tornado topped Tazewell 7-1 in Southwest District play.
Gage Hylton’s three hits, Gabe Gillespie’s two-hit, two-RBI performance and Parker Ryder’s complete-game seven-hitter were also notable for the Blues.
Tazewell received two hits each from Ellis Day and Walker Johnson.

Pioneers pummel G-Men
Booker Steffey went 2-for-3 and scored three runs as the Lebanon Pioneers pounded Graham for a 16-6 Southwest District victory.
Leadoff hitter Jake Hilton scored four runs in the win, while Brady Cole and Brock Keen each had two RBIs.
The SWD leaders scored six runs in the second inning and five more in the third. The Pioneers host Virginia High on Thursday in an important league matchup.
Cam Graves and Grady Mullins had two hits apiece to lead Graham.

Bulldogs best Marion
Tazewell pitchers Ellis Day and Braylen Barnett combined to pitch a unique one-hitter that featured 14 walks and eight strikeouts as the Bulldogs edged Southwest District foe Marion 4-3.
The duo combined to throw 152 pitches. Barnett plunked a batter as well.
Braydon Roberts had two hits and Brody Myers scored two runs in the victory. Tazewell avenged an earlier loss to the Scarlet Hurricanes.
Caden Hutton had Marion’s only hit. I.J. Cregger walked four times.

Softball
G-Girls overpower James Monroe
Leadoff hitter Bella Kaklis went 4-for-5 with three RBIs as the Graham G-Girls outslugged James Monroe for an 11-8 interstate win over West Virginia’s James Monroe.
Paylin Cline was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Gabby Kaklis (3-for-5) and Kylie Oakes (2-for-4, two RBIs) performed at a high level too when it came to swinging the bat.
Graham fell behind 5-2 after one inning.
Canes edge G-Girls
Addyson Williams scored on a single by Madison Justice in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes a 12-11 Southwest District win over Graham.
Justice led off the eighth with a double and then scored the game-winning run three pitches later.
Marion trailed 11-5 after five innings before rallying for the victory thanks to some hitting heroics of Abby Rabara.
Rabara went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs.
She hit a two-run homer in the second inning, a two-run bomb in the sixth and a game-tying two-out, two-run single in the seventh.
Sadie Amos went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.
Spencer Parks (3-for-5), Spencer Parks (two hits) and Williams (two hits) were productive as well.
Graham’s Riley Harvey went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, while Abby Houchins had two doubles and four RBIs. Bella Kaklis, Stevie Sparks and KaLeah Ross each tallied two hits.
Blues blast Bulldogs
Averi Fuller recorded her 300th career strikeout as Richlands topped rival Tazewell 5-1 in a Southwest District game.
She spun a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Haven Crabtree had two hits and scored two runs for the Blue Tornado, while Paytlyn Barnett pounded out two hits.
Tazewell got its only run on Aaelyn Snapp’s solo home run in the first inning. She finished 2-for-3, while Kendyl Taylor had the team’s other hit.
Pitcher Jillian McFarland of the Bulldogs struck out 10 in a six-hitter.

Pioneers blank G-Girls
Jaidyn Fields went 2-for-4, scored two runs and tallied two RBIs as the Lebanon Pioneers pounded Graham for a 13-0 Southwest District victory.
Kaitlynn Morrison went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, while Chloe Couch and Davia Helbert finished with two RBIs apiece.
The pitching was impressive as well with Chadyn Musick and Chloe Romano combined to toss a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts.
Stevie Sparks and Paylin Cline had Graham’s hits.

Blue Tornado torches Bearcats
Averi Fuller, Justice Hill and AdyMae Reynolds homered for the Richlands Blue Tornado vanquished Virginia High for a 17-3 Southwest District victory.
Irelyn Osborne went 3-for-4, scored three runs and tallied two RBIs for the Blues. Reynolds, Hill, Cami Spencer, Paytlyn Barnett and Haven Crabtree each had two this and Fuller pitched three hitless innings.
Richlands scored five times in the first inning and seven more times in the second.
Sarah Page had two RBIs for VHS. Page, Cali Doss and Neveah Bristol scored the runs for the Bearcats.
Bulldogs best Canes
Aaelyn Snapp, Brooke Jordan, Lizzie Watson and Kendyl Taylor each had three hits as Tazewell outslugged the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes for an 11-9 Southwest District win.
Jillian McFarland added three RBIs for the Bulldogs, who led 11-3 after five innings and held on.
Sadie Amos went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Marion. Suzanna Barker, Abby Rabara, Madison Justice and Alyssa Dempsey added two hits apiece for the ‘Canes.

Two goals from Gamble Stevens helped the Virginia High Bearcats edge Richlands 2-1 in Southwest District play.
