PikeView topples Tazewell

Pikeview broke a 1-1 tied with two runs in the third and defeated Tazewell 8-1 March 24.
Braden Huggins singled and scored, and Trenton Tolliver stole home after reaching on a fielder’s choice to give the Panthers a lead it never relinquished. Tolliver led off the game with a double and scored on a hit by Landon Wyatt.
Walker Patterson’s first-inning home run accounted for Tazewell’s only run and tied the game. Patterson, Brody Myers and Cade Vass had the only hits for the Bulldogs, who had just four players reach base in the game.
Huggins and Nate Redmond each had two hits for Pikeview. Landon Bolen, replaced Eli Hilling, who faced just one batter, and finished the game on the mound for Pikeview.
Walker Johnson, Jesse McGraw and Ellis Day turned in outstanding defensive plays for the Bulldogs. The game was Tazewell’s season opener while Pikeview improved to 5-0 with the win.

Pioneers dump Blues
Gage Hylton went 3-for-4 for Richlands, but it wasn’t enough as the Blue Tornado fell to 0-2 after an 8-3 loss to Fort Chiswell.
Andrew Boyd went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Blues.
Fort Chiswell (3-0) received two hits apiece from Owen Jackson, Mac Phillips and Spencer Moser. The Pioneers scored five times in the second inning to seize control.

Pulaski shuts out G-Men
Tristan Shupe had Graham’s only hit as the G-Men were pummeled by the Pulaski County Cougars 16-0.
Graham committed six errors.
Seth Carter went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs for Pulaski.
G-Men shut out Beavers
Gabe Lilly went 2-for-2, scored three times and hit a three-run inside-the-park homer as Graham blasted the Bluefield Beavers 16-0 for their first win of the season.
Cam McCroskey also had two hits and teamed with Tristan Shupe to toss a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.
Cooper Hale and Mason Caldwell added two RBIs apiece for the G-Men.
PikeView repeats against Tazewell
Tazewell lost to the team from West Virginia for the second time in three days, falling 9-3 in the second meeting.
Dakota Herndon had three hits in the loss, while Brody Myers finished with two hits.
Landon Wyatt homered for PikeView and also struck out 11 in going the distance on the mound.

G-Girls whip Princeton
Bella Kaklis went 2-for-4, scored three runs, stole three bases and tallied two RBIs from the leadoff spot as the Graham G-Girls pounded Princeton 16-2.
Graham pushed across 10 runs in the fourth inning.
Gabby Kaklis added three RBIs, while Riley Harvey and Paylin Cline drove in two runs apiece.

Blues take wins at invite
The Richlands Blue Tornado won a pair of one-run games in Saturday’s Abingdon Invitational, beating Science Hill 7-6 and Blacksburg 15-14.
Cami Spencer went 3-for-5 and delivered a walk-off two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Blues a win over Blacksburg. Richlands led 11-4 after five innings and then trailed 14-11 entering the bottom of the seventh before rallying.
AdyMae Reynolds (three RBIs), Irelyn Osborne (two hits, two RBIs) and Justice Hill (2-for-3, three RBIs) also contributed to the slugfest against Blacksburg.
Averi Fuller and Ava Lester each had two hits in the triumph over Science Hill.
Bulldogs fall at invitational
The Tazewell Bulldogs lost twice on Saturday in the Eastman Invitational, dropping an 11-1 loss to Volunteer and a 13-1 game to Walker Valley.
Aaelyn Snapp and Lanee Blizzard had the hits for Tazewell against Volunteer, while Kendyl Taylor scored the run.
Brooke Jordan had a hit and scored a run for the Bulldogs in the loss to Walker Valley.
Tazewell went 0-4 in the event.
Earlier, Tazewell was blanked by Tennessee High and Greenbrier. Tennessee High bested the Bulldogs 8-0, while Greenbrier took a 5-0 victory.
Eastside stomps Richlands
Emma Sartin was stellar, superb and splendid as the Eastside Spartans rocked Richlands 10-1 for a non-district victory.
Sartin spun a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and three walks, while she went 3-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate.
Alexis Nixon added two hits and two RBIs for Eastside, while Mallory Durham also drove in two runs.
Abby Ward and Peyton VanWinkle chipped in with two hits apiece, while Dakota Clay scored two runs.
The lone hit for Richlands came off the bat of Haven Crabtree, a fifth-inning RBI single that brought Brayleigh Woody home.

Wise County Central 1, Graham 0
Wise County Central goalkeeper Harley Jett made 14 saves as the Warriors blanked Graham in a rematch of last year’s Region 2D finals.
Graham won that previous meeting, but the Warriors prevailed this time. Isabella Newberry had the lone goal.
