Marion edges G-Men
Will Garrick scored on a wild pitch with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Marion a 5-4 Southwest District win and complete a comeback for the Scarlet Hurricanes.
Marion trailed 4-1 entering the final inning.
A bunt by Garrick was mishandled and led to a two-run error that tied the game. Garrick then used his wheels to race home for the winner.
Garrick was also the winning pitcher in relief.
Marion had just two hits – via Peyton Ratcliffe and Caden Hash – but took advantage of seven walks, two errors and three hit batters by the G-Men.

Bowman went yard in the third inning and the seventh inning.
“Landon has put together a very good season offensively,” said Chilhowie coach Jeff Robinson. “He’s become a more complete hitter this year than in his previous three seasons as a starter. His home runs today were clutch. The first one tied up the game after we dug ourselves an early deficit. His second one put the game away.”
Bowman also singled as he spearheaded Chilhowie’s 17-hit onslaught.
Freshman Bryce Robinson added two hits and also pitched 3 1/3 solid innings.
Brent Kilbourne, Jayden Schwartz, Gavin Walker, Brycen Sturgill and Tyler Gonzalez each finished with hits as well.
Leadoff hitter Brody Childers went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Rural Retreat. Eli Poole added two hits and two RBIs.
