About 60 horses competed last Saturday in the Northwood High School FFA Horse Show at the Rich Valley Fairgrounds.
Scott Cole, NHS agriculture teacher, said this is the second year the FFA club has held a horse show, and they hope to make it an annual event.
The show, Cole said, helps the club “raise funds for our students to compete in various contests throughout the year.”
All the FFA members are encouraged to help, Cole said, adding that some show up at 8 a.m. and stay till cleanup late in the evening.
The winners of each division were: Pee Wee, Huxley Hicks, Buckle Sponsor - Circle B Fencing; Youth Division, Rylee Ward, Buckle Sponsor - Blue Ridge Outfitters; Open Division, Sierra Davenport, Buckle Sponsor - Clark Farms; Masters/ Senior Division, Danny Privett, Buckle Sponsor - Cattle Creek; and Poles, Sierra Davenport, Buckle Sponsor - Horstmann Hill Farm.
Show sponsors were Clark Farms, Cattle Creek, Circle B Fencing, Blue Ridge Outfitters, Hortsmann Hill Farm, CH Cattle Company, Fox Valley LLC, Branded H, Rural Creek Threads, Chilhowie Fence Supply, Parks Shaved Ice, Tractor Supply Co., and the Rich Valley Fair.
