Panthers edge Grayson
Emma Burress went for 14 kills and four blocks as the Northwood Panthers outlasted Grayson County for a quality 25-17, 25-23, 16-25, 16-25, 16-14 win.
Channing Waldie (nine kills, four blocks), Harlow Heath (nine digs), Bailee Nutter (15 digs, three kills), Myami Roberts (17 assists, 13 digs, five kills), Khloe Salyer (eight kills, three aces), Aubree Kegley (17 assists, six digs, three aces) Pyper Chapman (33 digs) and Gabby Call (six blocks, four kills) were also part of the balanced attack for the squad from Saltville.
Rebels shut out Pioneers
Kinsley Counts (10 kills, 10 digs, two aces), Autumn Parks (10 kills, 10 digs) and Mia Owens (25 assists, 18 digs, four aces) each had a double-double as Patrick Henry posted a non-district win.
Erin South (11 digs, eight kills, three blocks, three aces), Aspyn Harner (17 digs) and Andie Boone (eight blocks) also helped the Rebels prevail.
Rebels roll over Panthers
Kinsley Counts supplied 21 digs as the Patrick Henry Rebels rolled to an important 25-12, 25-22, 25-19 Hogoheegee District volleyball victory over the Northwood Panthers on Tuesday evening.
Emma Harris (21 digs), Erin South (nine kills) and Andie Boone (seven kills, four blocks) were standouts for PH.
Channing Waldie's nine kills, Pyper Chapman's 14 digs, Aubree Kegley's 11 assists and an 11-assist, seven-dig, three-kill, two-block showing from Myami Roberts were notable for Northwood.
Canes shut out Lebanon
Macie Hanshew contributed 26 assists and Aubrey Yarber added 10 kills as the Scarlet Hurricanes recorded a 25-18 , 25-22, 25-22 sweep
Marion was also helped by Sadie Amos (10 kills) and Alexis Atkins with 10 service points.
The quartet of Jaidyn Fields (22 digs, 11 assists, eight kills), Carlee Ingram (five aces), Kenlie Fields (23 digs) and Kaytie Lampkin (four kills) were stat leaders for Lebanon.
Warriors blank Indians
Raegan Jones supplied nine kills and 11 digs in the 25-20, 25-16, 25-11 sweep.
Rilynn Copeland (11 digs) and Maddie Williams (11 aces) also played well for Chilhowie.
Rebels roll over Rural Retreat
Mia Owens reached the 1,000 landmark for career assists as the Rebels earned another Hogoheegee District win by a 25-15, 25-16, 25-10 score.
Erin South (14 kills), Andie Boone (seven kills) and Kinsley Counts (six kills) also played well for PH.
Warriors shut out Tigers
The trio of Rylee Hill (nine kills, two blocks) Raegan Jones (eight kills, seven digs) and Maddie Williams (eight kills, 15 digs) led the hit parade for the Chilhowie Warriors in a 25-11, 25-13, 27-25 Hogoheegee District win over Honaker.
Abby Bogle’s 18 assists and Kenley Hill’s 17-assist, three-ace stat line were also crucial to the win.
Northwood blanks Holston
Pyper Chapman hustled her way to 15 digs, Aubree Kegley dished out 23 assists and Emma Burress slammed down 18 kills as Northwood notched a 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 Hogoheegee District victory over Holston.
Channing Waldie (seven kills, five digs), Bailee Nutter (10 digs), Myami Roberts (16 assists, five kills) and Khloe Salyer (seven kills) were also part of a balanced attack for the Panthers.
Marion tops Bearcats
Macie Hanshew stuffed the stat sheet with 22 assists, five digs, three aces and two kills in Marion’s 25-10, 25-11, 25-15 Southwest District vanquishing of Virginia High.
Aubrey Yarber (10 kills) and Sadie Amos (six kills, two aces) were also catalysts for the ‘Canes.
Golf
Holston claims Hogo golf title
The Holston Cavaliers earned the team title and medalist honors Thursday in the Hogoheegee District golf tournament at Hoston Hills Golf Course in Marion.
The Cavaliers posted a team score of 324, while Brody Thomas posted the low round of 76.
Patrick Henry (337) finished second to earn the other berth into Tuesday’s Region 1D tourney at Holston Hills.
Hunter Wells of Rural Retreat and C.H. Stephenson of Northwood advanced as individuals along with Lance Teaters, Isaac Cassell, Spencer Williams and Brandon Anders from Chilhowie.
