Chilhowie downs Tazewell in benefit game
Sophomore Dylan Martin was his playmaking self as the Chilhowie Warriors trounced Tazewell 38-22 in a VHSL Benefit Game on Thursday.
Martin caught scoring strikes of 8 and 3 yards from Bryce Robinson and returned a punt 50 yard to the house in the preseason football clash.
Robinson was 17-of-21 through the air for 144 yards with Marion (seven catches, 52 yards) and Garrett Dickison (four catches, 54 yards) having productive nights.
Meanwhile, Gunnar Milhorne and Kainan Biller each had a rushing touchdown. Tyler Gonzalez added a field goal and Gabe Rouse bagged an interception.
Chilhowie led 32-8 at halftime.
The only blemish for the Warriors in the first half came when Dejuan Viney of Tazewell returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown late in the second quarter. It was a rare TD allowed by Chilhowie’s usually rock-solid kickoff team.
Jaden Johnson had two fourth-quarter touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
