The Chautauqua Festival is in full swing, turning Elizabeth Brown Park into a community hub of food, arts, crafts, music and more.
This year, there’s a new attraction promising to leave a permanent change to the park. Boone, North Carolina, muralist Josh Johnston is busy creating Wytheville next public art piece in Elizabeth Brown.
The festival, of course, has the usual offerings, including an art and photography show, a flower and table show, daily artisans of the day, food vendors and longtime festival favorite Butterfly the Clown.
Coming up today, at noon, is Paddle Faster Bluegrass at the upper shelter. Tonight, Band of Oz will bring beach music to the Elizabeth Brown stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by Bob Seger Tribute Hollywood Nights at 8:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Azlan Montgomery will play the upper shelter at noon. One Side Missing, the 2026 Brews and Bands winner, will open the night of music at 6:30 p.m. on the main stage. Closing out the night on Thursday is Southern rock act The Damn Shames.
Darren Sheppard will play live music in the upper shelter at noon on Friday.
Friday night, West Virginia-based Tupelo Drive sets the stage at 6:30 p.m. Closing out the evening is the sef-described Possum Rock of Boone, North Carolina, five-piece Cigarettes @ Sunset, blending folk, roots music and indie rock into a soaring stew.
Also on Friday night, at 9 p.m., is Spooky Stories with Ms. Judy.
A full day of long-awaited events close out the festival on Saturday.
From 8 a.m. to noon is the Cars in the Park car show at Withers Park. The show is free to view with a $10 car entry fee. Â The annual Chautauqua 5K is set for a 9 a.m. start with registration opening at 7:45 a.m.
WyvaCon will be held at the part from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, with Chase Altizer providing music in the upper shelter at noon.
R&B and the Motown sounds are on the schedule as Souljam takes the main stage at 6:30 p.m. Closing out the festival on the main stage, direct from Las Vegas, is Michael Jackson tribute MJ Dejavu.
