Ivanhoe Fire Department will have a Donnie Widner Memorial Fundraiser on Saturday, July 18th, 12-5 p.m. at the Ivanhoe Fire Department. There will be baked goods, hot dog sale, silent auction, raffle drawings, kids water play area, face painting and vendor tables. All proceeds go to the Ivanhoe Fire Department.
The First Baptist Church in Speedwell will have Vacation Bible School with Kingdom Seekers on July 29th-31st, 7-9 p.m. There will be classes for all ages, lots of fun activities and crafts.
Rural Retreat Heritage Day will be held on Saturday, July 25th, at 1 p.m. at the Pepper Stage, 210 E. Railroad Avenue. At 1 p.m. will be kids activities and vendors, 5 p.m. Conway Twitty Tribute, at 6:30 p.m. Deadman's Hand and at 8:15 p.m. is Diamond Rio. This will be free admission and there will also be vendors onsite. Tibbs Custom Creations will be set up selling Rural Retreat Heritage Day T-shirts.
The RRHS Basketball Team is in need of drink donations of canned sodas and bottled water to sell at the Rural Retreat Heritage Day Festival. Donations can be dropped off at Hilltop Carryout by July 23rd. All proceeds help fund summer league, equipment, warmups and more for the boys basketball program.
Wytheville Baptist Church will have "Come to the Table", free homecooked breakfast on Saturday, July 18th, at 10 a.m. at Open Door Cafe.
RRHS Volleyball Feed the Team is looking for local businesses that would donate to help feed the Volleyball Team for the upcoming season. For each donation over $100, your business logo will be featured on their LCD Scoreboard at every home game. Please reach out to Head Coach Brittany Sage if interested.

The property borders Jefferson National Forest, has road frontage, mountain stream and is fenced, a total of 84.968 acres. Mount Rogers Community Services will have a Special Olympics Field Day on Thursday, July 23rd, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wytheville Community College Field. There will be track and field, softball, basketball, soccer and more. People with disabilities can enjoy athletics in an organized setting.
There will be an Estate Sale on Friday, July 24th, at 9 a.m. at 7689 W. Lee Hwy, Rural Retreat. There will be antique and vintage furniture, vinyl records and players, 50's jukebox, signed items from Ralph Stanley, country living decor, china, dishes, glassware, coal mining items, tools, plumbing, electric mechanic and more.
The First Baptist Church in Speedwell will have spaces for rent for the Rt. 21 Yard Sale on July 24th-25th, for $10 a day.
Crockett's Chapel United Methodist Church Youth in Cripple Creek will be making apple butter this fall and are in need of pint and quart jars. All donations of jars is greatly appreciated.
The 100 Mile Take A Break From The Interstate U.S. Route 21 Yard Sale from Wytheville to Harmony, NC will be held July 24th-26th. Be sure to drive careful during this event because there are people and cars on both sides of the road and people driving real slow so they can see if they want to stop at one of the yard sales.
There will be a Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday, July 17th and 18th, rain or shine at 372 Mountain View Avenue, Rural Retreat.
Wytheville Farmers Market will be collecting School Supplies for the next two Saturday Markets to support the "Pack the Bus". All donations can be dropped off at the Information Table at the Market on July 18th and 25th.
Rural King Supply will have a Farmers Market on Saturday, July 25th, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is looking for vendors to set up.
Rural Retreat High School Athletics Boosters has elected new officers. Tia Morris is President, O.J. Lilly is Vice President, Alicia Terry is Secretary, Aaron Ross is Treasurer, Members At Large are Chaz Penwright, Elisabeth Crouse and Kenny DeHart and Social Media Coordinator is Kelsey Robert.

Rural Retreat Farmers Market will have Cabbage Patch Kids Club on Wednesday, July 29th, 3-5 p.m. Kids Club Bucks $10 is to spend on fresh fruits, veggies, eggs, honey, meats and food producing plants. This will be for the first 35 children and eligible ages are 2 years to 17 years.

RRHS Athletics new ticket prices are: All Sport Passes-adults $185 and students $55, Reserved Football is $65, Football and Basketball is $8, all other sports is $7, Family Passes with 2 adults and 2 children is $350.
Asbury Church at 203 Church Street, Rural Retreat will have Annual Campmeeting on August 3rd-7th, at 7 p.m. Travis Kiriluk will be preaching and there will be special singing nightly.
There will be an Ice Cream Social at Petunia Christian Church at 2420 W. Lee Hwy. on Saturday, August 8th, 5-8 p.m. All donations will go toward providing Wythe County Schools with supplies for students. The menu is burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, sides and desserts.
The Town of Wytheville Parks and Recreation will have a Summer Concert with The Embers featuring Craig Woolard, on Friday, August 7th, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Withers Park. Advance tickets can be bought at the Wytheville Community Center for $5 or at the gate for $7 and children 5 and under is free.

I am so grateful to the good Lord for the rain we have had. It has rained all around us and nothing here until Sunday. It sure is good to finally see some water in the branches and our grass is finally trying to green back up after being so brown.

Wytheville Training School Cultural Center's 5th Annual Street Fair will be held on Saturday, July 25h, at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be food vendors, music and live entertainment.
