Maroons wallop Pioneers
Cade Bralley rushed for two touchdowns and also returned a punt for a score as George Wythe rocked Mountain Empire District rival Fort Chiswell 63-7.
Isaac Smith threw only two passes for Georg Wythe and both resulted in touchdowns. He had missed a season-opening loss to Radford due to an injury.
Caden Golliher (three carries, 103 yards), Maddox Shiver, Carson Bard, Quorion Logan, Ethan Gates and Ryan Fowler also got in on the touchdown act for the Maroons.
GW (1-1) held a 344-48 edge in total offense.
Indians trounce Mustangs
Brody Allen and Jake Rollyson were an undeniable dynamic duo on Friday night as Rural Retreat improved to 2-0 with a 51-20 victory over Eastern Montgomery.
Allen was 10-of-14 through the air for 171 yards and four touchdowns, while he rushed for 88 yards on 10 carries and two scores.
“He ran our offense really well,” said Rural Retreat coach Quinton Hensley. “Made some great throws, great runs and excellent decisions.”
Rollyson had five catches for 100 yards and three scores, while he rushed for 162 yards on 15 carries with a TD.
“Jake ran tough and physical all night,” Hensley said.
By the time it was all said and done, Rural Retreat racked up 518 yards of total offense.
Dawson Williams and Maddox Owens also scored for the Indians, who travel to Eastside (0-1) on Sept. 11.

Craig shuts out Bears
The Bland County Bears on Friday were on the wrong end of a record-setting game with Craig County.
Craig County’s Rockets notched a program record for single-game point with a 68-0 win over Bland.
Bentley Smith threw two touchdown passes to Caleb Cregger and ran for 51 yards on two carries. Robbie Eakin collected 100 yards and three touchdowns on just three carries, while Noah Paxton added 69 yards and three scores on seven carries.
