Where the Jack-O-Lantern came from: a long time ago people in Ireland and Scotland carved faces into turnips and potatoes. These glowing lanterns were meant to look spooky and scare away bad spirits. Later, may Irish families came to America and found pumpkins and they were bigger and much easier to carve. That is how carved pumpkins became a Halloween tradition that we now call them Jack-O-Lanterns.

Until next time: Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God picks you from the patch and brings you in. Then washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up and scoops out all of the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and He puts His light inside of you to shine for all of the world to see.
