Colonial Beach, located in Westmoreland County in Virginia’s Northern Neck, has one of the largest beach fronts in the state.

In the early to mid 20th century, it was also a very popular resort town. Because the Potomac River shore touched with the Maryland state line where gambling was legal, many visitors enjoyed the pier casinos and slot machines that extended into the Maryland waters.
