Take a look at the following restaurants and breweries that closed or announced they will be closing this year.
Kabana Rooftop
Kabana Rooftop announced it will be closing. Its last day will be Dec. 31. A new concept is planned for the space. Read the story.
21 Spoons
21 Spoons, which was named ‘Best Locally Owned Restaurant in Virginia’ by Southern Living Magazine, announced that it will be closing. Its last day will be Dec. 22. Read the story.
Pad Thai
Pad Thai restaurant at 8460 Meadowbridge Road in Mechanicsville is closing permanently at the end of this year or the beginning of 2025. Read the story.
Bryant’s Cider
Bryant’s Cider closed its Carytown location in late November. It was open in Carytown for roughly a year. Bryant's Cider at the “farm” in Roseland will remain open.
Parterre
Parterre Restaurant at the Linden Row Inn has closed. Read the story.
81/2 in Church Hill
8 1/2 in Church Hill decided not to renew its lease and closed in December. The Fan location of 8 1/2 remains open. Read the story.
Southbound
After 10 years of operation, Southbound restaurant in the Stony Point Village Shopping Center has closed. Soundbound was the creation of two Richmond star chefs, Lee Gregory and Joe Sparatta. The owners said that the landlord wanted to raise the rent 60% and that they weren't able to reach a new lease that was "fair and reasonable." Read the story.
Burger Bach Midlothian
Burger Bach Midlothian at 101 Heaths Way Road closed in November. The Burger Bach at West Broad Village closed in September.
The Carytown location of Burger Bach at 3426 W. Cary St. remains open. The restaurants in Midlothian and Carytown are owned and operated separately. Read the story.
Odyssey
Odyssey, the seafood restaurant from the Alewife team of Lee Gregory and Bobo Catoe at 6919 Patterson Ave., closed at the end of the summer. The building has been purchased by a new owner. Bobo Catoe has moved over to Slurp! Ramen as chef.
Jubilee
Jubilee at 1303 Hull Street in Manchester has closed. The restaurant was owned by Mike and Kim Lindsey. They own several restaurants in the Richmond area such as Lillie Pearl and ML Steak.
Recently, they've been branching out to the suburbs with the opening of Farm & Oak in Innsbrook, ML Steak and Kali Love at Chesterfield Towne Center. The Lindsey's said that Jubilee may open again in another location.
A new concept, Davine, serving American and South Asian fusion, opened in the space in September.
Kuba Kuba Dos
Kuba Kuba Dos, at 403 N. Ridge Road in Henrico County, has closed. Read the story.
Dancing Kilt Brewery
Dancing Kilt Brewery (12912 Old Stage Road, Chester) closed in late October. It's the fourth Richmond area brewery to close in the past 12 months. Read the story.
Sincero
Sincero, one of Richmond’s top new restaurants, closed after less than a year at 404 N. Second St.
Burger Bach West Broad Village
The Burger Bach at West Broad Village has closed. It was located at 2225 Old Brick Road in Glen Allen. Read the story.
The Hop Craft Pizza & Beer
The Hop Craft Pizza & Beer at 1600 W. Cary Street closed to focus on its Udderless vegan pizza business. Susie's Café & Deli is headed into the space. Read the story.
Steam Bell Beer Works
Steam Bell Beer Works closed in late August after serving craft beer to Chesterfield since 2016. The owners said that they were unable to renew their lease. When it opened, Steam Bell was Chesterfield’s first craft brewery. Read the story.

Westray's Finest Ice Cream at 214 N. Lombardy St. has closed. Read the story.

Rise Café
Rise Café in Richmond’s East End — which has been operated by Rise Richmond as a part of its workforce development program, Rise Labs — has closed. Read the story.
Luxe New American Bar & Grill
Luxe New American Bar & Grill at 1331 E. Cary St. in Shockoe Slip has closed after less that a year in business.
Tia Pablo
Tia Pablo Taqueria in Shockoe Bottom closed after 13 years in business in late June. The owners said that they will continue to offer catering and private events.
Diablo Doughnuts RVA
Diablo Doughnuts RVA, at 1090 Virginia Center Parkway, Suite 105, in Glen Allen, has closed. Read the story.
La Casita
Long-running Mexican restaurant La Casita at 5204 Brook Road has closed. A sign at the restaurant says El Vaquero #2 coming soon.
Izzy's Kitchen
Izzy’s Kitchen at 2901 Park Ave. closed in March. Lynchburg's Texas Inn has taken over the space. Read the story.
Carraba's Italian Grill
Carraba’s Italian Grill closed its Short Pump location at 11237 W. Broad St. in Short Pump. The Chesterfield location at 11450 Midlothian Turnpike remains open.
Hurley’s Tavern
Hurley’s Tavern in Innsbrook at 4028 Cox Road closed at the end of March. It will relaunch as The Fishin' Pig. Read the story.
SB's Main Street Love Shack
SB's Main Street Love Shack at 2600 W. Main St. closed. The Lakeside location will remain open. Read the story.
Nick's Roman Terrace
Nick’s Roman Terrace Restaurant, located at 8051 West Broad St in Henrico, Va., closed after over 45 years in business.
Baker's Crust
Baker’s Crust in Carytown at 3553 W. Cary St. has closed. A sign on the door says that the restaurant closed permanently on March 3. The Short Pump location of Baker’s Crust remains open.
District 5
District 5 at 1911 W. Main St. in the Fan closed on Feb. 5. The restaurant posted to its website, "District 5 would like to thank you for your patronage, love and support for the past 8 years...It’s been a great run and we couldn’t thank the city of Richmond enough."
It has relaunched and reopened as Sky Box Sports Bar.
Nama Indian
Nama Indian restaurant at 15 W. Broad St. in downtown Richmond closed in early January. The owners cited a marked difference in downtown dining since the pandemic. The space will become a private event space called Art Haven.
Saladworks
Saladworks closed after 10 years in business, according to a sign posted to the business. The chain is located at 7000 Forest Ave. Suite 1100, in the Shoppes at Reynolds Crossing. There is still a location open in Chesterfield at 14446 Hull Street Road. saladworks.com
