Ernest Bolton Schrader Sr., age 75, of Wytheville, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020, at his home. He was born on February 7, 1945, to the late Clarence H. and Irene Bolton Schrader. He is survived by his son, Ernest Bolton "Buck" Schrader Jr. of Rural Retreat; and two sisters-in-law, Dixie Goodman and Vicki Chrisley. Also surviving are special friends, Robin White, Carla and Rail Porterfield and best friends, John Creger and Chimer Hagy. Special thanks to Denise/and Emma/ for all the help they gave to Ernest. Faith Umberger Niday, age 63, of Bland, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Charles E. Coe. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Darren Coe and Charles Perry Coe. Faith was a lifelong member of West End United Methodist Church. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Callahan Coe of Wytheville; husband, W.H. Niday of Bland; sons and daughters-in-law, Kirk and Kelly Umberger of Goochland, Va., Landon and Amy Umberger of Draper, and Jared Umberger and Erin of Wytheville; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and H.B. Umberger of Wytheville; grandchildren, Emily Umberger, Eli Umberger, Ethan Umberger, Landry Umberger, Brody Umberger, Brycelyn Umberger, Jemma Umberger, and Tripp Bedwell; and special nieces and nephews, Stacie Malott, Cara Epes, Parker Coe, Peyton Coe. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2020, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Reverend Richard Lindamood and Pastor Derek Cowan, with interment at Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat. MARION, Va. Gregory Allen Stacy, age 61, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020, in Marion, Va. Greg was loyal, giving and you could always count on him to be there for you. He loved his family and tried to be the best man he could be. Greg also loved his country and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. His fun, living for the moment, cynical personality will be missed. He was preceded in death by his grandmother and family matriarch, Birchie Matney Stacy Ratliff; mother, Judith Hibbitts Stacy; brother, Timothy Curtis Stacy Sr.; and nephew, Timothy Curtis "TC" Stacy Jr. Greg is survived by his wife and friend, Angela Smith Stacy of Marion, Va.; daughters, Kaylah Harrington of Wytheville, Va., and Amber Harrington of Memphis, Tenn.; son, Santino J. Smith of Atkins, Va.; father, Curtis Stacy and wife, Brenda, of Rockwell, N.C.; sisters, Anita Parton and husband, Gary, and Cynthia Earls, all of Asheboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Amber Lynn, Victoria and Skylar; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Jim and Joan Young of Yadkin, N.C. Robert Ewing Cox Jr. Robert Ewing Cox Jr., age 91, of Max Meadows, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2020. He was born on May 31, 1929, to Robert E. Cox and Mamie Pearl (Chrisley) Cox and was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty (Akers) Cox; three sons, Anthony Cox, Douglas Cox, and Mike Cox, all of Wythe County; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Robert loved fishing, ginseng and deer hunting. He love taking his grandsons camping and fishing. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by the Reverend Mike Ingo, interment followed in the church cemetery. Troy Welch Smith, age 87, of Rural Retreat, Va., passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020, at his home. He was born on November 25, 1932, in McDowell Co., N.C., the son of the late Dink Gustos Smith and Alva Mae Woody Smith. Troy was owner-operator of Troy Smith Excavation and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and John Smith and a nephew, William Kelton "WK" Smith III. He is survived by siblings, Wanda Pool and husband, Boyce, Ted Smith and wife, Sharon, all of Marion, N.C., William Kelton "Buddy" Smith Jr. and wife, Darlene, of Rural Retreat, Kathleen Alderman and husband, Don, of Pfafftown, N.C., and Karen Umberger and husband, Dale, of Mechanicsville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2020, at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Gary Houseman officiating. Interment followed in Rosewood Memorial Gardens with military rites being conducted by Rural Retreat American Legion Post # 229.
