Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears has filed paperwork with the state Department of Elections to seek the Republican nomination for governor next year, setting up a potentially historic campaign in which she could become the first woman elected governor of Virginia.

Taking advantage of great Labor Day weekend weather thousands of visitors and spectators made Percival Landing in Olympia their holiday port of call on Sept. 1, 2024 for the annual Olympia Harbor Days maritime festival. Sponsored by the South Sound Maritime Heritage Association the annual event included the annual food, entertainment and vendor booths along with dockside tugboat tours, sandcastle sculpture contest, an aerial drone light show and kid’s programs. Also available to the public sailings of the tall ship Lady Washington and the historic steamship, Virginia V and closed with the traditional Budd Inlet tugboat races.
