BRADENTON, Fla. Ona Lea Wade Ford, 72, formerly of Floyd County, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 after a short illness. She was born September 23, 1943 to Zelda Eris (Quesenberry) and Elvin Wyatt Wade Jr. of Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Eric Wyatt Wade, and her stepson, Ross E. Ford, Jr. Lea was a retired LPN, having worked in nursing for over 20 years. She was known for her unconditional love and devotion to the family. Lea was kind and thoughtful and always put others first. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 39 years, Ross E. Ford Sr., of Bradenton Fla.; her daughter, Amy Lee, Scarborough, England; her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Amy Ford of Bradenton Fla.; step-son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sharon Ford of Galax; her grandchildren, Caitlin and Jake Lee of Knaresborough England, Aaron, Ryan, and Mattie and Lauren Grace Ford of Bradenton Fla. Per Lea's wishes there will be no funeral, she believed money was better spent serving the living. As the daughter and mother and wife of Army veterans the Combat Vets Motorcycle Association (CVMA), which provides assistance to veterans, was close to her heart.
