Jane Warner Dorothy Jane Warner born January 4, 1957, died unexpectedly in Palm Springs, California, on Friday, August 30, 2013. Janie grew up in Bristol and graduated from Bristol Tennessee High School in 1975. She attended Sullins College and graduated from Radford University in 1978. She also received a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida State University in 1979. At the time of her death, Janie was living in Palm Springs, California, where she was President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Lung Association in California. Previously, she had served in executive management positions in numerous non-profit organizations including the American Diabetes Association, the Arthritis Foundation, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Janie loved her family and friends deeply. Her professional life was spent leading organizations that worked to improve people's lives and make a difference in the world, something to which Janie was tremendously dedicated. She was quick with an irreverent joke, loved to laugh, and had the easiest smile. Janie is survived by her mother and father, Laura Ann and John Warner of Bristol; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Les Bechdel of McCall, Idaho; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Warner of Johannesburg, South Africa; aunt and uncle, George and Peggy King of Bristol; and, partner, Kathleen Taggart of Palm Springs, California. She is also survived by her niece and nephews, Laura Bechdel, Max Bechdel, Jack Warner, and Preston Warner; and cousins, Charles Parks, Peggy Parks Cowan, Elizabeth Parks, and George Parks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Lung Association in California, or a charity of your choice. There will be a private memorial service.
