Edward Lee "Ed" Conner FIELDALE, Va. Edward Lee "Ed" Conner, a local photographer, 77, of Fieldale, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016. He was born in Floyd County on September 12, 1939, and was a graduate of Floyd County High School. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in the 101st Airborne Division as a Paratrooper in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Ed was an award winning photographer having owned, Ed Conner Photography for 35 years. He was a member of the Virginia Professional Photographers where he served two terms as Lt. Governor, a member of Wedding Photographers of America and other various associations. He retired from Dupont with 25 years of service and had been a beekeeper for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, George Willie Conner. Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley of the home; his precious mother, Arva Conner Coleman and step-father, Bill; son, Mike Conner; two step-daughters, Kathy and Lisa; three grandchildren including a very dear grandson, Triton Martin, who built a special bond with his Papa Ed; five great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Conner of Roanoke; brother, Charles Conner and wife, Beulah of Floyd; brother-in-law, Burch Bryant and wife, Sandy of Huntington Beach, California; and other family and friends. The family received friends Sunday, September 25, 2016, from 1:30 until 3 p.m. in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, where the service followed at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Richardson and Minister Lawrence Harris officiating. A private entombment will be held at Henry Memorial Park. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Gospel Road Baptist Church, 4305 Oak Level Road, Bassett, VA 24055, or the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 730 E.
