MARION, Va. Joyce G. Miller, age 74, died on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at her home. She was born on December 30, 1943, in Eckman, W.Va., to the late Edward and Beulah Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Virgil Miller; and her brother, Billy Gibson. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in several women's groups. Joyce held a variety of jobs within in the community before she retired from the Smyth County Treasurer's office. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, seeing plays, and playing Bunco with her friends. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Hubbard and husband, Brian, of Gate City, Va.; two sons, Brad Miller and wife, Melissa, and Mark Miller and wife, Crystal, all of Marion Va.; one sister, Linda Johnson and husband, Ben, of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Robert Gibson and wife, Linda, of Fredericksburg, Va., and George Gibson and wife, Sarah, of Kingsport, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brandon Jones, Sheena Jones, Adam Jones, Allison Jones, Brian Miller, Alexius Hess, Allison Doss, Mark Miller II, and Lauren Hubbard; great-grandchildren, Dayton Jones, Eli Jones, Hunter Jones, and Jackson Hess; several nieces and nephews, and a large, loving extended family and circle of friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18, 2018, at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Marion, Va., with the Reverend David Woody officiating. Graveside service will be Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
