Donald Trump reiterated aboard Air Force One that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming he ended eight wars and highlighting his approach to negotiations. In remarks to reporters, he cited the Congo–Rwanda conflict and asserted that 15 million people were beheaded. The Norwegian Nobel Committee and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre have emphasized the committee’s independence following Trump’s January text about the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump also said Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado gave him her Nobel medal, which the committee says cannot be transferred. He referenced a 2025 Washington, D.C., agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo; fighting has continued, and no credible evidence supports his casualty figure.
