Dietitians say people who cook at home around three nights a week experience less bloating, steadier energy levels & fewer digestive issues within the first few weeks. That’s partly because homemade meals usually contain less sodium and fewer ultra-processed ingredients than restaurant or ready-made foods. Registered dietitian Olivia Hamilton explains that balanced meals with protein, vegetables, and healthy fats can help people feel more satisfied and energized throughout the day. Over time, experts say the habit of home cooking may also support lower blood pressure, improved cholesterol levels, and better metabolic health. Beyond nutrition, cooking at home may also improve mood, create routine, and encourage stronger social connections through shared meals and family time.
