While he’s not the odds-on favorite heading into golf’s second major, Brooks Koepka certainly has to be in the conversation.
Koepka won his third PGA Championship this past weekend at Oak Hill, giving him five majors for his career, and the only golfer to win three major championships in one state.
That’s right, Koepka has won three times in New York: The 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills in Long Island and the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black, also in Long Island. Sunday he lifted the Wanamaker Trophy in Rochester, N.Y.
With less than a month before the U.S. Open tees off, Koepka is in the top five at all the major sportsbooks, with BetMGM giving him the best odds to win at +1100. FanDuel and Caesars have Koepka at +1200, while DraftKings is giving him +1400 odds to win the 123rd U.S. Open, which will be played at The Los Angeles Country Club’s North Course from June 15-18.
The favorite for the next major at three of the four major books is Scottie Scheffler, who finished tied for second at the PGA Championship with Viktor Hovland.
Scheffler, who reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Rankings with his runner-up finish, is +800 at BetMGM and +850 at DraftKings and Caesars. FanDuel has him at +950, which is second on their board behind Jon Rahm.
Rahm, who is now ranked second in the world, struggled at the PGA Championship, finishing T50 at 7-over par. However, FanDuel has him at +850 to win the U.S. Open. Rahm is looking for his second major championship of the season after winning the Masters in April, and the third of his career.
Rory McIlroy is third on all the major sportsbooks’ lists, right around 10-1 odds. McIlroy, the No. 3 player in the OWGR finished T7 at the PGA Championship.
In the wake of this past weekend's major, FrontPageBets takes a look at the top-10 favorites to win the U.S. Open next month in Los Angeles.
