Pioneers pound Bulldogs

Lebanon bests Richlands
Brady Cole supplied three hits as the Pioneers completed another perfect regular-season run through the Southwest District with a 7-5 win over Richalnds.
Lebanon collected a total of 13 hits and broke a 5-5 tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Isaac Godsey and Jake Hilton combined on a five-hitter for Lebanon with nine strikeouts. The Pioneers (12-8, 10-0) overcame six errors.
Richlands (10-8, 6-4) was led by Max Herndon, who drove in two runs and homered. The Blues made three errors.
Bulldogs crush Graham
The Bulldogs rapped out 14 hits in a 14-2 Southwest District road win over Graham.
Brody Myers drove in three runs on four hits, while Walker Johnson plated four runs on two hits.
Dokota Herndon and Walker Patterson combined on a two-hitter for Tazewell (8-11, 3-7) with eight strikeouts.
Graham (3-16, 1-9) had hits from Michael Ganoe and Chaun Dowell.
Pioneers pound Bulldogs
Jake Hilton went 3-for-4, scored two runs and also pitched three hitless innings of relief after taking over for starter Cannon Barton as Lebanon clinched the Southwest District regular-season title with a 7-1 win at Tazewell.
The Pioneers (11-8, 9-0) scored all seven of their runs over the first three innings. Booker Steffey, Parker Cole and Ethan Horne each had two hits. Barton and Hilton each notched five strikeouts.
Braden Greer’s RBI groundout scored Wyatt Johnson for Tazewell’s only run in the fourth inning.

Blues knock off Marion
The Richlands Blue Tornado scored three times in the top of the eighth inning to edge Marion for a 7-4 Southwest District victory.
Max Herndon scored on an error to put Richlands ahead to stay, while Gabe Gillespie cranked a two-run double.
Gillespie finished the day with two hits and three RBIs, while Bradley Fuller and William Fuller each tallied two hits and scored twice.
Gage Hylton pitched three strong innings of relief to notch the win.
Will Garrick, Peyton Ratcliffe and Caden Hash each had two hits for Marion. Garrick also delivered a gutsy pitching performance as he went the distance on the mound.

Bearcats blast G-Men
Connor Presley, Nixon Nowiski and Ryder Estes each had three RBIs as the Virginia High Bearcats blasted Graham for a 21-1 Southwest District win in Bluefield.
VHS scored 10 runs in the first inning and put up a seven-spot in the third.
Five Graham pitchers combined to give up seven hits, walk 12 and plunk four. Eight errors didn’t do the G-Men any favors either.
Braxton Britton scored two runs and tallied two RBIs. Calloway Jordan’s three runs and Ryan Penley’s two RBIs also contributed to the blowout.
Meanwhile, Ollie Foy and Jordan combined to pitch a four-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Cooper Hale scored the only run for Graham and that occurred in the third inning.
Softball
Tazewell topples G-Girls
The Bulldogs collected nine hits and played flawless defense in a 13-2 Southwest District win over Graham
Josie McGraw led Tazewell (9-12, 5-5) with three hits, while Jillian McFarland spun a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Leadoff batter Bella Kaklis paced Graham (11-10, 1-9) with three hits. Graham began the season with a 7-2 record.
Virginia High bests G-Girls
Neveah Bristol went 2-for-4, scored two runs and tallied three RBIs as the Virginia High Bearcats earned a 16-7 Southwest District win over Graham.
VHS scored seven runs in the fourth inning and pushed across six runs an inning later. The Bearcats avenged a 14-13 loss to Graham suffered 11 days earlier.
Kalayah Bristol (2-for-4, three runs), Emma Harvey (two hits), and Kileeah Tucker (two hits, two RBIs) also swung the bats productively. Cali Doss was the winning pitcher.
KaLeah Ross went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs for Graham. Bella Kaklis also homered for the G-Girls.
Blues blast Canes
AdyMae Reynolds went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs as the Richlands Blue Tornado trumped Southwest District opponent Marion 15-2.
Reynolds hit a solo homer in the second inning, smacked a two-run single in the second, connected for a two-run homer in the fourth, and capped the scoring with an RBI groundout in the fifth.
Averi Fuller pitched a two-hitter and also homered.
Haven Crabtree, Irelyn Osborne and Ava Lester added two hits apiece.
The Blues scored eight times in the second inning.
Suzanna Barker and Sadie Amos were responsible for Marion’s hits.
Pioneers whip Tazewell
Kaitlynn Morrison hit a fourth-inning grand slam as the Lebanon Pioneers pounded Tazewell 10-1.
Lebanon (17-5) hosts Richlands on Thursday and can clinch the Southwest District regular-season championship with a win.
Chadyn Musick went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and also teamed with Raelyn Huff to pitch a three-hitter.
Jaidyn Fields had a big day at the plate as well, going 3-for-5. Abigail Skeen, Chloe Couch and Kylan Brooks added two hits apiece.
Josie McGraw went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Tazewell.

Rhys Aiello scored three goals and was one of six guys who found the back of the net for the Graham G-Men in a 10-2 Southwest District win over the Virginia High Bearcats.
Lucas Nash added two goals.
G-Girls shut out Bearcats
Sophie Scarberry’s four goals highlighted Graham’s 7-0 Southwest District win over Virginia High in Bristol.
Lebanon shuts out Tazewell
Goalkeeper Hailey Smith recorded the shutout as the Lebanon Pioneers blanked Tazewell for a 4-0 Southwest District win.
Chloee Dillon scored three goals in the win, while Emma Barrett also found the back of the net.
Virginia High girls drop Bulldogs
Senior Chloe Jarvis and sophomore Lucy Foy each scored three goals as the Virginia High Bearcats topped Tazewell for a 7-1 Southwest District win at Gene Malcolm Stadium.
Senior Nyellie Valles also found the back of the net and provided plenty of hustle.
Goalkeeper Cydney Cooper made 15 saves for VHS (7-8-2, 4-4-2), which earned the third seed in the SWD tournament. The Bearcats host a tourney game on Tuesday.
Tazewell boys shut out Bearcats
The Tazewell Bulldogs blanked Virginia High 2-0 in a Southwest District match in Bristol.
