Griffith to hold in-person service Academy Day on April 11 in Wytheville
U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) will host his 2026 Service Academy Day event on Saturday, April 11, from 9-11 a.m. in Smyth Hall 122, Wytheville Community College, which is at 1000 E Main St., Wytheville.
Congressman Griffith said, “For those high school students interested in serving their country, the U.S. Service Academies offer a way to both serve and further their education. I encourage all high school students, parents, and school staff to attend on April 11th to learn more about their options.”
The event invites representatives from each of the U.S. Service Academies, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, the Virginia Military Institute, and other Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs.
Students in surrounding jurisdictions, outside of the Ninth District, may attend to receive information about the Service Academies and serving in the military.
The Lincoln Theatre to host weekend of double-headliner tributes
The Lincoln Theatre will host When Patsy Meets Elvis on Friday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., and Beatles Vs. Stones on Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m.
When Patsy Meets Elvis, designed to be a timeless tribute to two greats, is coming to The Lincoln Theatre on Friday, April 24. Michael Hoover (as Elvis) and Denise Glass (as Patsy Cline) strive to bridge their independently captivating performances for a special tribute.
Beatles Vs. Stones: A Musical Showdown
Representing the Fab Four and returning to The Lincoln Theatre is Abbey Road, one of the country’s top Beatles tribute bands. They’ll play classics and deep cuts spanning the entire Beatles discography as they battle against Satisfaction, an international Rolling Stones tribute. This internationally acclaimed band strives to mirror the styling of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and the rest of the bad boys of British rock ‘n’ roll.

Bristol Ballet presents third annual Pas de Derby
Bristol Ballet will hold its annual Pas de Derby on May 2 from 5-8 p.m.
A day of Derby festivities will take place at The Glass House (429 Bentley Lane, Bristol, Va.).
Multiple TVs will show the race. There will be several raffle items.
Tickets for the party are available beforehand and at the door (card, check, or cash). Raffle tickets are available at the party (card, check, or cash). Funds raised will support Bristol Ballet, a 501(c)3 organization chartered in Virginia.
The ballet relies heavily on donations to continue bringing dance education to students. Bristol Ballet’s mission is to train and educate people about the art of dance, through exceptional ballet training for youth, and through productions for the public. Through its long history, the organization has served thousands of young dancers and audience members.
