There will be a Ride for fallen Deputy Logan Utt of Carroll County that lost his life in the line of duty. This is for all vehicles and will be held on Sunday, June 28th, at noon with line up at Mayberry Mall in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. The cost is $20 per vehicle/cash and all makes and models are welcome. Please only fly the American Flag or the black with blue strips. No burnouts or speeding. All proceeds go to the Utt Family.
Wythe County Parks and Recreation will have Adult Open Play at Ager Park and this is free and no registration is required. This will be held in June and July with Wiffleball on Wednesdays at 5-9 p.m., Cornhole on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. until finished and Kickball on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. until done.

The Speedwell Volunteer Fire Department will have their Annual Chicken BBQ Dinner on Sunday, July 5th, at 11 a.m. until gone. The dinner includes 1/2 chicken-BBQ or plain, baked beans, slaw, roll, dessert, tea or lemonade. Dine in or carry out.
Sunday with trying to get to church and other places later was an adventure with all the deer, squirrels and rabbits in the road. We saw several small fawns running and jumping and they were so cute. We also saw turkeys and ground hogs. I always enjoy seeing the wild animals.
Oh, my goodness, thank the good Lord for the rain that we need so bad. We crossed New River and it is so low and some people were out over half way and was still on dry land. There were also so many rafters enjoying the water.
