Wythe County’s libraries have a busy week coming up, and today, the end of this week, is busy, too. The Wythe County Public Library in Wytheville has Dungeons & Dragons gaming starting at 10, and the Adult Coloring Club at noon. The Fort Chiswell Public Library at Max Meadows has Storytime for preschoolers, today’s emphasis on “elephants,” starting at 11 am.
The Wythe County library has its weekly Monday programs coming up: Mahjong Monday gaming starting at 4 p.m., and Legos for kids at 4:30 p.m.
It is also offering a computer coding program from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday for ages 15 and up. Curious about coding? Join us for an Hour of Code and explore the world of computer programming through engaging challenges provided by freeCodeCamp. Participants will work at their own pace while building problem-solving and coding skills in a supportive environment. Bring your own device (laptop recommended) to get the most out of the experience. A USB flash drive or other storage device is also encouraged so you can save your work and continue learning after the class.
The Wythe County library offers the Little Readers Club on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. for youngsters in kindergarten through second grade. Through engaging, interactive activities, children have the opportunity to practice key reading skills such as phonics, decoding, and encoding while learning at their own pace. Call (276) 228-4951 for more information.
Storytime for preschoolers at the Wythe County library is Wednesday at 10 a.m., this week’s emphasis on penguins. The Adult Coloring Club meets there at noon.
And the Fort Chiswell library on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. offers Book Bedazzling Workshop for ages 16 and up. Bring your favorite book and add some sparkle, where you can decorate and personalize a book cover using rhinestones, gems, and other embellishments. Participants must bring the book they wish to use; all other materials will be provided. Registration is required. Call (276) 764-0044 to register.
Storytime for preschoolers is offered again Thursday, this time at the Rural Retreat Public Library starting at 11 a.m. The emphasis this time is elephants again. For more information, call (276) 686-8337. That Book Bedazzling Workshop also comes up again, this time at the Rural Retreat library from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Bring you favorite book and jazz it up.
And we’re still not through with Thursday. The Wythe County library has its Young Readers Book Club at 4 p.m. for grades 3-5, where participants read a selected book and then take part in engaging activities inspired by the story. Through discussion, hands-on projects, and interactive learning, participants can strengthen reading comprehension, critical thinking, and literary analysis skills while exploring books in a fun and meaningful way.
Which brings us to Friday, when the Wythe County library hosts the Twisted Stitchers for folks who enjoy knitting and socializing, starting at 2 p.m.
And we cap the week with the popular Trivia Night on Friday at the Wythe County library, starting at 6 p.m. Put on your thinking caps and test your knowledge of general but trivial questions at this enjoyable gathering.
