Mt. Pleasant UMC will have a Classic Car Show on Saturday, September 26th, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 200 Mt. Pleasant Road. There will be a raffle, bake sale and chance drawing. There will be a $20 fee to show your vehicle with registration at 10 a.m. and the event is free to the public.
West End Methodist Church at 1020 W. North Street, will have a Yard Sale on Friday, September 25th , 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturday, September 26th, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be soup and hot dogs for sale.
The 3rd Annual Rich & Long Music Festival will be held on Saturday, September 26th, 12-7 p.m. at the Rural Retreat Dr. Pepper Stage. This year's lineup includes: Freedom House, 12 Blackbirds, Town and Country, Of The Day, The Rich's and Jeff Tolbert & Primitive Road. There will be free ice cream provided by Rich & Long Realty Group. Vendors will include Grayson Restaurant Food Truck, Gilley's Shaved Ice, Bill Kirk's Ice Cream, Larry's Funnel Cakes and Wicks & Whatever.
Rural Retreat United Methodist Church will be selling apple butter and the quarts are $9 and the pints are $5. You may order by calling the church office at 276-686-6429 or from any church member.
The JPSA Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held on Saturday, September 26th, 8 a.m. to noon at 169 Kents Lane, Wytheville and this is for Wythe and Bland Residents Only. For more information as to what you can't take, call 276-228-4907.
Autumn Blaze to kick off Fire Prevention Week will be held at the Rural Retreat Lake on Friday, October 2nd, 6-8 p.m., and on Saturday, October 3rd, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be Fire Trucks, Emergency Vehicles, Heavy Equipment, Specialty Vehicles and more. There will also be a Trick Or Treat Event and live music by Wylee & The Coyotes, 21 Blackbirds and AI G & Friends Band.
Rural Retreat United Methodist Church Annual Youth Flamingo Fundraiser will be held on September 25th to November 1st. You can send a Flock of Flamingos to someone's yard for $25 a flock. All proceeds support the Youth Resurrection Trip. You may call the Church Office at 276-686-6429 for more information.
Sunny Hills Church a 2973 North 4th. Street, will have a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24th, 5-7 p.m. There will be games, food, inflatables, hayrides, cake walk, chili cookoff, face painting, popcorn, lots of candy and prizes and a children and adult costume contest. This is a free event.
VHSRA Beef Raffle tickets are $20 each for a drawing on November 13th, and there will be two winners and each will receive a half beef sponsored by Phipps Cattle Co. & Blazin' P Meats of Rural Retreat. Ivanhoe Fall Trade Day will be held on Saturday, October 10th, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ivanhoe Jubilee Park/Show Grounds. There will be farming supplies, horse tack, clothes, jewelry, baked goods, produce, crafts and animals are welcome. The spots will be $10 and there will also be concessions available.
The Annual Lord's Acre Sale will be held on Saturday, October 10th, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rural Retreat Community Center. There will be homemade items, handmade items, homegrown items, and there will be gravy biscuits, sausage biscuits, country home biscuits, hot dogs and drinks.
There will be a Fall Neighborhood Yard Sale on Saturday, October 10th, at 7 a.m. at the Country Club Estates.
Adopt A Grandparent for Christmas at Holston Health and Rehab for only $20 so that each resident will receive a stocking full of goodies. There are 181 residents.
