The 6th Annual 9-11 Big Walker Lookout Tower Climb will be held on Saturday, September 12th, at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is a tribute to all First Responders. There will be hotdogs and BBQ for sale.
The Rural Retreat Depot will have The Sipping and Switching Society Train Show on Saturday, September 19th, with tentative hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The first 49 kids to visit will receive a free Railroad Conductor Cap.
Evergreen Church at Evergreen Church Activity Center 534 Winding Road, Wytheville, will have a Bean and Cornbread Supper on Saturday, September 19th, and this is by donation.
Barren Springs Volunteer Fire Department will have a Fish Fry on Sunday, September 13th. The menu will be a fried catfish plate with french fires, corn, green beans, hush puppies, slaw, dessert and a drink. The Ham Plate will have baked ham, french fries, corn, green beans, roll, slaw, dessert and a drink. Adult plates are $12 and kids plate is $6. This is drive through only.
The 2nd Annual Duane Hix Cruise In will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 3113 Ivanhoe Road with Classic Cars, Cool Rides and good times. There will be a Country Breakfast available for donation.
9/11 Memorial Ceremony Remembering A Day That Changed America 2001-2026 will be held on Sunday, September 13th, at 2 p.m. at the Wytheville Meeting Center with Keynote Speaker Melissa Gaona, news anchor for WDBJ 7 News. The ceremony will include Patriotic Music, the Posting of Colors, the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and Armed Services Salute, Special Music and the Program will conclude with a 21-Gun Salute, Taps, the Retiring of the Colors and "Amazing Grace" on Bagpipes. Those in attendance will be First Responders, Veterans, Virginia State Police, American Legion, Wythe County Community College Band, Sheriff Anthony Cline, Chief Joel Hash, Congressman Morgan Griffith and Local Clergy.
There will be a Bow Shoot for Mike Atwell, Jr. to help him with medical bills and monthly expenses. This will be held at the Big Walker Game and Fish Club at 849 Whippoorwill Rd., on Saturday, September 12th and 13th, at 8 a.m. There will also be food available and all proceeds will go directly to Mike.
West End Methodist Church at 1020 W. North Street, will have a Church Yard Sale on Friday, September 25th, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturday, September 26th, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be soup and hotdogs for sale.
The 3rd Annual Rich & Long Music Festival will be held on Saturday, September 26th, from 12-7 p.m. at the Rural Retreat Dr. Pepper Stage. This year's lineup includes: Freedom House, 12 Blackbirds, Town & Country, Of the Day, The Rich's and Jeff Tolbert & Primitive Road. There will be free ice cream provided by Rich and Long Realty Group while it lasts. Vendors will include Grayson Restaurant Food Truck, Gilley's Shaved Ice, Bill Kirk's Ice Cream, Larry's Funnel Cakes and Wicks & Whatever.
There will be a Garage Sale at 190 E. Pine Street, on September 3rd-5th, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be men's and women's clothes, jewelry, glassware, kitchen goods, and many other items.
Richdale Farm Open Day will be held on Saturday, September 26th, with Saturday hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday hours, 12-6 p.m. through November 1st. The offer Field Trips and all students will geta pumpkin and this is at 378 Richdale Rd., Wytheville.
Brandon Davis-Backroads & Barns Tour will be held at Richdale Farm at 378 Richdale Rd., Wytheville. General admission is $25 and entry starts at 6:00 p.m. No outside food or drinks. There will be a Meet & Greet with Brandon immediately following the show.
I smell A Girl's Night will be held at 165 Tazewell Street, on Friday, September 18th, at 6 p.m. You will paint a ceramic candle jar, create a custom 100% soy candle, paint a ceramic cauldron candle jar, paint a ceramic pumpkin candy dish and a light up ceramic pumpkins. There will also be Permanent Jewelry.
The 2026 Southwest VA Old Time Farm Festival and Toy Show will be held at 778 Rural Retreat Lake Road and admission is $5 and kids under 6 is free. The Farm Toy Show will be Friday, September 18th, 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, September 19th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Farm Festival will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can enter to win a Vintage Case "30" Pedal Tractor and tickets are $10 each or 8 for $50 and the proceeds go to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The Farm Festival will include an Antique Tractors & Equipment, Hit & Miss Engines and Lawn & Garden Tractors, Apple Cider, Rope Making, Live Music, Children's Activities and Concessions will be available.
You are welcome to a Tea Party at the Speedwell United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 12th, at 11 a.m. with Stephanie Whitlow and Hailey Whitlow as speakers and tickets are $50. There will be a Breakfast Brunch with Heavy Hors D'Oeuvres, different themed tables, small thank you favor for everyone, prizes for best dresses, complimentary tea cup and saucer for each attendee. Speedwell Elementary School will have a Fundraiser Night at El Patio Mexican Restaurant on Wednesday, September 23rd, 5-9 p.m. A portion of the sales will be donated to the school.
