She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mae Schultz and was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dennis Bard Sr.; sister, Pauline Martin; two brothers, Jack Schultz and Billy Schultz. Marie is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Sandy and Gary Scott of Wytheville, and JoAnne Fender of Salem; two sons, Fred Dennis Bard Jr. of Durham, N.C., and Bryan Bard of Wytheville; special niece, Loretta Miller of Ohio; special daughter-in-law, Chelsie Bard; grandchildren and spouses, Stacy and Chris Burkett, Jimmy and Amy Fender, Jason and Melissa Fender, Brysan Bard, and Carsan Bard; great-grandchildren, Casey Burkett, and Christa Burkett; and sister, Delores Ixos of W.Va. Betty Lee Bartee Stroupe age 85, of Speedwell, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020. She was born on August 30, 1934, in Wythe County, to the late John and Eva Eanes Bartee. Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, William Vance Testerman Sr.; second husband, Charles Stroupe Sr.; son, Charles "Kip" Stroupe; a brother, Buster Bartee; and daughter, Debbie Irene Sexton. Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, William Vance "Bo" Jr. and Debbie Testerman of Speedwell, and Jerry Testerman of Speedwell; three daughters and son-in-law, Eva "Tiny" Terry of Speedwell, Betty "Peewee" and Dean Rosenbaum of Greasy Creek, and Teresa Phillippi of Speedwell; sister, Peggy Dill of Norfolk; brother and sister-in-law, James Dexter "Fuzzy" and Edie Bartee of Speedwell; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Bimbo Stuart of Speedwell. David Douglas Davidson, 66, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020. He was the husband of Vickie Davidson for 30 years. Doug was born in Marion, Virginia, the son of the late Ralph and Josephine Davidson. Prior to his retirement, he worked in Sales Mangement at various locations in Virginia and Florida. Doug will be deeply missed by his wife, Vickie Davidson of Ocala, Fla.; sons, Stephen A. Davidson of Seven Mile Ford, Va. and David C. Davidson of Ocala, Fla.; daughter, Kristina Palmer of Ocala, Fla.; and his granddaughter, Kylie of Ocala, Fla. He is also survived by siblings, Mary Davidson and Byron Davidson; several nieces and nephews; and special aunt, Joyce Keyes of Marion, Va. February 27, 1926 - July 3, 2020 John F. Angle Jr. passed away peacefully with his son Elliott and his daughter-in-law Patricia by his side. At 94 years, old he has left behind a genuine legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. Never did he speak a harsh word to or about anyone. He is now reunited in heaven with his loving wife Agnes Louise Angle. They had an amazing and loving marriage of 68 1/2 years together. John F. Angle Jr. is survived by his children, son. Elliott Angle and his wife, Patricia; daughter, Deborah Coker and her husband, David, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. After leaving the family farm in Virginia, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he was then employed with National Cash Register Company for 30 years, retiring as Regional Branch Service Manager. Afterwards, he became a successful business owner of Christiansburg Cash Register and then Angle Supply Company for 35 years. John Angle was best known for his love of chit-chatting with anyone. He truly was a "Guiding Light" to those who knew him and will be very sadly missed by us all. Guy Thomas Vencill, age 61, of Richlands, Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va., following a brief illness. Guy was born on July 11, 1958, in Mechanicsville, Va., the son of the late Homer Vencill and Elizabeth Betty Brown Vencill. He was a graduate of Lee Davis High School Class of 1976 and worked as the parts manager for Silver Spur in Richlands, Va. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and all kinds of sports. He was an avid fan of the Grundy Gladiators, VT, Pittsburgh Steelers, and his newest passion was the Southwest Virginia Community College Flying Eagles. But his greatest joy was being with his family, he was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. Guy had lived 41 years in the Richlands area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Wayne Vencill; brother, Eddie Wayne Vencill; sister-in-law, Alice Vencill; and brothers-in-law, Teddy Lloyd and Ray Melton. Those that remain to carry on his spirit are his loving wife, Debra Vencill of Richlands, Va.; son, Jason Vencill and wife, Elizabeth "Beth", of Vansant, Va.; sisters, Cara Melton and Pat Vencill, both of Richlands, Va.; and brother, Robert "Bob" Vencill. Guy's loving G-Babies, Heileigh Vencill, Jade Anna Vencill, John Brannon Vencill and Kira Rayne Vencill. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and his beloved canine companion, Smokey. Airy Masonic Lodge # 226 AF & AM of Rural Retreat, where he had served as past master. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Fisher Humphreys; brother, W.R. Humphreys Jr.; and sister, Betty Jean Humphreys. Priscilla Hubbard Spencer age 68, of Barren Springs, Va., passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, in Roanoke, Va. She was born on May 16, 1952, in Pulaski, Va., the daughter of the late Bill and O'Donna Nester Hubbard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Susann Hubbard and Louise Bolton. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Howard Douglas Spencer; son, Bruce Spencer of Iowa City, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law, Jannie and Ronnie Smythers of Barren Springs; brother, Joseph Brooks of Austin, T.X.; nephew Anthony Bolton and wife Jennifer of Savannah. Ga.; niece, Emily and husband, James Richardson, of Pulaski, Va.; niece, Kelly Mims of Barren Springs; niece, Anna Stitt and husband, Josh, of Barren Springs; and five special grandchildren, Keegan Mims, Tyler Mims, Caroline Mims, Ryland Stitt and Lilly Stitt. RURAL RETREAT, Va. Shirley McClure Rowland, age 84, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020, in Statesville, N.C. Shirley was born in Marion, Va., to the late Sam McClure and Lucy Sturgill McClure and was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Douglas Rowland; her infant daughter, Tammy; and her brothers and sisters, Kenneth McClure, John Robert McClure, Billy McClure, Margaret Fore and Linda McClure. Shirley was a devout Christian woman who loved music and cooking. She was the pianist for the Sturgill Quartet, the McClure Quartet, the Rowland Quartet and many church's. She loved Jesus, Southern Gospel Music and dearly loved her family. She will truly be missed by all her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Evangelist Douglas Allen Rowland and wife, Donna, of Statesville, N.C., Joe L. Rowland and wife, Cindy, of Statesville, N.C., the Reverend Jeffery Scott Rowland and wife, Haley, of Statesville, N.C.; brother, Gerald McClure and wife, Barbara; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Chilhowie, Va., with the Reverend Jerry Eggers and the Reverend Dennis Eller officiating. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Susann Hubbard and Louise Bolton. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Howard Douglas Spencer; son, Bruce Spencer of Iowa City, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law, Jannie and Ronnie Smythers of Barren Springs; brother, Joseph Brooks of Austin, T.X.; nephew Anthony Bolton and wife Jennifer of Savannah. Ga.; niece, Emily and husband, James Richardson, of Pulaski, Va.; niece, Kelly Mims of Barren Springs; niece, Anna Stitt and husband, Josh, of Barren Springs; and five special grandchildren, Keegan Mims, Tyler Mims, Caroline Mims, Ryland Stitt and Lilly Stitt. Priscilla loved her family and some of her happiest times were spent with family around the dining table. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date at the Glenwood United Methodist Church in Barren Springs, Va. RURAL RETREAT, Va. Shirley McClure Rowland, age 84, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020, in Statesville, N.C. Shirley was born in Marion, Va., to the late Sam McClure and Lucy Sturgill McClure and was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Douglas Rowland; her infant daughter, Tammy; and her brothers and sisters, Kenneth McClure, John Robert McClure, Billy McClure, Margaret Fore and Linda McClure. Shirley was a devout Christian woman who loved music and cooking. She was the pianist for the Sturgill Quartet, the McClure Quartet, the Rowland Quartet and many church's. She loved Jesus, Southern Gospel Music and dearly loved her family. She will truly be missed by all her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Evangelist Douglas Allen Rowland and wife, Donna, of Statesville, N.C., Joe L. Rowland and wife, Cindy, of Statesville, N.C., the Reverend Jeffery Scott Rowland and wife, Haley, of Statesville, N.C.; brother, Gerald McClure and wife, Barbara; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Chilhowie, Va., with the Reverend Jerry Eggers and the Reverend Dennis Eller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Reverend Rick McClure officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to services at the church.
