Daniel Mason Stowers, 84, of the Clear Fork community in Bland County, passed from this life into the arms of his loving Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2020. "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter in"He was a man of no pretense, who valued hard work, humility and was at his heart, a servant. His faith and his family were the building blocks of his life. A farmer all his life, he was the same Daniel in the field as he was at the podium in Sunday School, where he held the position of adult class teacher for nearly 40 years. He was born June 19, 1936 at Bluefield, W.Va., the son of the late Harry Martin and Beulah Christine Bain Stowers. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Zane Lois Turner Stowers and his brother, Thomas Stowers. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Becky Harvey and Cherie Stowers, Anna and Bryan Williams; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Alma, Lillian, Peggy, Betty and Jenny, and, his special fur baby, "Rocco". Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Bill Scott officiating. The Stowers family is in the care of A. MARION, Va. Retired Master Sgt. Ralph D. Dolinger, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at his home in Marion, Va. Ralph was born in Marion, Va. on November 23, 1940. He is preceded in death by his parents, Blaine Dolinger and Stella Blevins Dolinger. Ralph was a decorated veteran that served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired after 20 years of service, earning the rank Master Sergeant. He served during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in 52 countries. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lien T. Dolinger; three sons, Scott P. Dolinger, Matthew S. Nguyen, and Duy S. Nguyen; grandson, Tyler Dolinger; sister, Dortha Bowman; and special friends, Millard Stamper, Gary Blevins, Gayle Lester, David and Beverly Martin, and Danny and Pam Sheets. Martha was born in Parkersburg, W.Va. to the late Hoy Buckner and Mittie Knight. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Clacy Goff; daughter, Melanie Lynn Sizemore; and brother, Ernest Bennett. She is survived by her son, Ezra Alan Bee of Rural Retreat; daughter, Phyllis Hoagland of Fairfax; grandchildren, Jeremy Sizemore, Sabrina Axtell, Regina Brooks, Melissa McCue, Jesseca Rambo, and Joshua Hoagland; seven great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Nancy Elizabeth "Beth" Miller Briscoe, 65, recently of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020, after a brief illness. Beth was born July 8, 1955 in Rural Retreat, Va. She lived in the Los Angeles, Calif., metropolitan area for many years where she married, raised her son, Michael, and had a long career with the County of Los Angeles in the Public Health department. Beth had a B.A. in psychology from Virginia Tech and a Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. Beth was predeceased by her father, Warren; mother, Margaret Greever; stepfather, John Greever; and sister, Ellen Lucas. She is survived by her son, Michael; brother, Chuck; sister, Lisa; brother-in-law, Ken Lucas; nieces and nephews, Kenny Lucas, Ashley Wilson, Michael Lucas, Amy Collins, and Kelly Wyrick; and many friends and colleagues. SEVEN MILE FORD, Va. Judy Carol Anderson Craver, age 69, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va. Born in Rich Valley, Va. to the late James and Ethel Hoover Anderson, Judy was one of 13 children. She was interested in her family history, and genealogy became a hobby. However, her favorite hobby was shopping but not just any kind of shopping thrift stores, yard sales and Goodwill were her targets, and boy could she find the deals! Judy's family was always the number one love and priority in her life. She has passed a legacy of family first, love and "thriftiness" on that will never be forgotten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine siblings. Judy is survived by her husband, James Craver of Seven Mile Ford, Va.; children, Jay Jenkins, Dana Craver, both of Marion, Va., and Jackie Colin and husband, Greg of Fayetteville, Ga.; siblings, Opal Hughes of Winter Haven, Fla., Henry Anderson and wife, Carole of Hiram, Ga., and Connie Null and husband, Wayne of Marion, Va.; four very special grandchildren, Logan Craver, Katelyn Winebarger, Autumn Winebarger, and Abrah Jenkins; several nieces and nephews; and special sister-in-law and best friend, Pam Phillippi. Vaden H. Miller Jr., 88, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, after a long journey attempting to recover from a stroke. Vaden Jr. was raised in Bland, Va. on Kimberling and graduated from Bluefield College. In 1953, he married Ruth L. Fields and moved to Roanoke, Va., where he owned Commonwealth Business Machines. With his roots in Bland, he purchased the original Miller home place and maintained a weekend farm, acquiring additional land along the way until his retirement in 1989. His dream retirement was to farm fulltime, so farm he did until the day of his stroke. Vaden's love for farming and his ancestry was evident throughout his life. One of his proudest accomplishments was keeping the Miller farm on Kimberling in the family since 1847. He was a member of Bastian Union Church and loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ida Miller; his first wife, Ruth F. Miller in 1993; his second wife, Doris Miller in 2019; and his son, Norman T. Miller in 1998. Surviving is his daughter, Cheryl A. Miller; his son, Eric S. Miller; and his wife, Jane; five grandchildren, Michelle Dawn Harper, Fredrick Vaden Payne and his wife, Jessica, Eric Christopher Miller and his wife, Alex, Stephanie Leighona Miller, and Kristen Maria Miller; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Jean Miller, Barbara Ann Miller, Catherine Marlene Miller; brothers, Larry Miller and Charles Douglas Miller.
