Fall on the Farm: Richdale Farm Open Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, with Saturday hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday hours, noon-6 p.m. through Nov 1.

Lord’s Acre Sale: The Annual Lord's Acre Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rural Retreat Community Center. There will be homemade items, handmade items, homegrown items, and there will be gravy biscuits, sausage biscuits, country home biscuits, hot dogs and drinks.

Fire Parade: The Annual Wytheville Fire & Rescue Fire Prevention Parade will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m.

Trade Day: Ivanhoe Fall Trade Day will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ivanhoe Jubilee Park/Show Grounds.

Poe’s Afterlife Radio Show: The Lincoln Theatre in downtown Marion will host “Edgar Allan Poe’s Afterlife Radio Show,” a live stage production, on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 with proceeds going to the Smyth County Humane Society.

Horticultural Help: On Saturday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, at the Bland County Festival of Leaves, 31 Fairgrounds Road, Bland, the Wythe Bland Region Master Gardener Association will be having a horticultural help desk booth and providing information about gardening and also apple varieties along with pruning and collecting grafting wood (scion) for starting new apple trees in the early spring. Everyone is welcome to stop by to ask questions about their gardening concerns. Stop by our booth! We would love to talk with you!

Floating Pumpkin Patch: The Town of Wytheville Parks and Recreation 5th Annual Floating Pumpkin Patch will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Rec Center Pool for ages 12 and under.

Plant-based Cooking School: Monday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 pm, at the Wytheville SDA Church, 1600 Chapman Road, Wytheville. Come and join us as we are learning ways to prevent, reverse, and/or improve pre-diabetes and type II diabetes one bite at a time in a simple, delicious way. Barbecue Dinner: Rural Retreat Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual fundraiser BBQ Dinner on Friday, Oct. 16, 3 p.m. until it's gone. The menu will pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans and dessert for $8. Drive-through only.

Jamboree: The WCC Jamboree at Snyder Auditorium will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. with Coyote Ugly and Denim & Plaid.

Gospel Music: Carpenters Coalition Quintet will present their program "Celebrating God’s Gift of Gospel Music" will be the program for the Macdowell Music Club meeting on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church on Main Street in Rural Retreat. Everyone is invited to this free event.

Chamber Banquet: The 80^th annual Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting & Awards banquet is set for Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Red Stag Dinner Theatre at 6 p.m. Deadine to buy tickets is Oct. 14.

WCC Halloween: The WCC Community Halloween Event at 1000 E. Main Street, will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, from 5-7 p.m.

Craft Sale: West End Methodist Church, 1030 West North Street, Wytheville is having their Craft Sale on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Would you like to set up a table? Mayhem on Main: Downtown Wytheville Mayhem on Main Street Kids Fun Run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. There will be various stations, obstacles, challenges, prizes for the best costume and for the top finishers in each age category.

Trunk or Treat: There will be a Trunk or Treat at the Rural Retreat Heritage Park in Rural Retreat, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1-3 p.m.

Operation Christmas Child: West End Methodist Church has been approved as a drop of location for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Collection week is Nov. 16-22. Schedule will be closer to that week on the West End Facebook page.

Library: The Friends of the Rural Retreat Public Library will meet on the second Monday of the month at the library from 2 to 3 p.m.

Radio Club: The Briarpatch Amateur Radio Club serves amateur radio operators in Southwest Virginia and northwestern North Carolina. All amateur radio operator are invited to the on-air weekly gathering held each Tuesday night at 8 p.m. with a frequency of 147.090+ and 103.5 tone.
