Free Admissions: Wytheville Museums will have free admission on Saturday, May 16, noon to 4 p.m. This will include the African American Heritage Museum on Franklin Street, the Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace on Main Street, the Great Lakes to Florida Highway Museum on Tazewell Street, Haller-Gibboney Rock House Museum on Tazewell Street, Thomas J. Boyd Museum on Tazewell Street and the Wythe County Decorative Arts Museum on Tazewell Street.
Brews and Bands: Chautauqua's Brews and Bands Music Festival with Open Door Community and 5K will be held on Saturday, May 16, noon to 6 p.m. at 650 W. Main Street.
Yard Sale: Open Door Yard/Bake Sale will be held Saturday, May 16, at 8 a.m. Spaces are available for $5. There will be hotdogs with homemade chili by Open Doors own "Mawmaw" and homemade desserts.
Movie Night: Wythe County Parks and Recreation will host movies at Rural Retreat Lake this summer with free admission. On May 16, the movie will be “Clue.”
Run For The Wall: The annual Memorial Day event honoring veterans will be held Wednesday, May 20, approximately 4 p.m. The same days, the Wall of Honor Committee will host a Candlelight Ceremony of Remembrance at 7 p.m. in Withers Park.

Splash Pad: The Heritage Park Playground and Splash Pad will be having Opening Day on Saturday, May 23, 1-3 p.m. at 103 South Main Street in Rural Retreat. Polar Express and Que N Cue BBQ will be there. Regular park hours are daily 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorial Day: Rural Retreat Lake Memorial Day Weekend events are: Friday, May 22, 2-6 p.m. tie dye at craft corner, 4 p.m. chalk it up, 9 p.m. Space Balls movie at the pool field, Saturday, May 23, 4 p.m., Dive In and Cook-Out at the pool, 5 p.m. bike parade prep at Craft Corner, 6 p.m. Flashback The Party Band at shelter 3, Sunday, May 24, 1:30 p.m. Memorial Day Bike Parade.
Used-Book Sale: On Friday, June 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the little red bookshop behind the Wythe County Public Library, 300 E. Monroe St., Wytheville, the well-attended book sales are continuing. All are welcome! Come and browse and take home some good reads!
Festival: Bands, Art, Bourbon and Ale Festival will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2-8 p.m. at the Homestead at 1125 Tazewell Street. There will be summer fun, music, breweries and distilleries, food trucks, artisan market and children's activities. Free gate admission. Wristband are available for a $15 donation and get token for one free drink. Food also available for purchase.
Summer Camp: Wythe County Summer Camp will be held on June 8-18, 8 a.m. to noon. Locations: Rural Retreat for students from Rural Retreat and Speedwell, Spiller for students from Spiller, Max Meadows for students from Max Meadows, Sheffey and Jackson. Registration is open for grades K-5 and lunch will be provided.
Senior Day: The District Three Governmental Cooperation will have a Senior Appreciation Day for Seniors in Wythe and Bland counties on Thursday, June 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Withers Park. There will be a free lunch, vendors, health screenings, door prizes and entertainment by The Appalachian Hoedowners. For more information, contact Libby at 276-782-2666.

Radio Club: The Briarpatch Amateur Radio Club serves amateur radio operators in Southwest Virginia and northwestern North Carolina. All amateur radio operator are invited to the on-air weekly gathering held each Tuesday night at 8 p.m. with a frequency of 147.090+ and 103.5 tone.
