In the last year, Speyside Bourbon Cooperage’s barrel plant in Atkins has grown its employee count from 150 to more than 200. Wednesday, state officials celebrated the news that the company will build its fourth Virginia facility in Pittsylvania County. That plant will create staves to supply the soon-to-be expanded Smyth operation.
