An unlikely pair of women, Lisa Silcox, a physical therapist, and Sharon Livingston, a building contractor, recently changed careers to turn what they love into their livelihood. After six months of around-the-clock work, the friends celebrated their success last week when the doors of their new restaurant, Willa Jacks, opened to the public. Located on East Main Street at the edge of Abingdon’s historical district, the restaurant has already served as many as 500 customers in just a few days, said Livingston, whose contracting expertise helped to design the building that seats 110 inside and 36 on the patio. The business partners describe the restaurant menu as a “tailored American eclectic cuisine.”
